not working on android 4.4 aftr installing it to the system is still tells me that it is a 3rd party app and refuses to backup/restore
Worked like a champ! Great App! Too bad ICS is taking away freedom to control ones own phone - I suspect it's for "our own good" though... not! Thanks for the great app!
Simple and efficient app Having problems changing or deleteing APNS with this app with Android ICS ?, here is how I've done it. 1.Root your phone. 2.Install this app. 3.Install Titanium Backup. 4.Open Titanium Backup and navigate to Backup/Restore tab. 5.Find APN Backup and Restore and long press it - an option list should appear. 6.Select from that list "Convert to sys aplication". 7.Reboot phone. 8.Open APN Backup and Restore, press phone's menu button and select "Disable ICS Check". Now you can fully use this app.
What you need along with other things if you phone has no apn edit function I got a kyocera hydro elite unlocked phone off ebay to use with straight talk. When I got it I found out the hard way that the ability to edit APN names is disabled on this verizon phone. I found I could root it using Kingo Android Root, then use Titanium backup (pro) to switch this app to a system file, and then use Offline Sim APN to actually setup new information(also converted to a system file). Apparently android 4.1 and newer prevents other apps from messing with the APN but rooting and moving the apps to the system folder fixes that limitation. This utility will save the configuration currently in the phone and it will wipe the old APN which you may have to do to prevent the newly added information from being defeated by the old info. When you find a working APN setup this will save it so next time you can easily just restore your backed up APN (through this utility). When you use this be sure to shut off ICS check (I think it's off by default) or it won't work properly. You may also have to make sure USB debugging is on in the developer options. Thank you for this utility, if they would add the ability to edit APN info this would be a 1st class app that I'd pay for!
WASTE OF TIME AND DATA!!! I installed it and ran a backup, which included over 1000 APNs for some unknown reason (since I only have 2 APNs on my phone) then told me 4.0.x blocks restoring, after I set it as a system app. Nexus 4, Paranoid Android June 24th build
Adverts were OK! A good app. I had no problem with the adverts being added. The developer has a right to make some money from their app. At least they weren't push notifications (this would have been unforgivable). Oh well, the adverts have gone again, so everyone should be happy now (and grateful).
- Removed the Ads and the Permissions needed for them :)
As such the app always had Ads, just the previous network didn't work properly to show them.
- Using a new Ad Service (Mobclix).
- Added an option to disable the check for ICS devices. This allows the app to be used as a System app on rooted devices.
- Read Phone State/Identity permission required by Mobclix to access a unique identifier that some ad networks require to track impressions..
