First I'll start with a review of Roku, itself... I absolutely adore it!! A million times better then my local cable company! If you're sick of paying a high bill for very few channels you should definitely consider switching! Now for the app... I have had zero problems with it. It does exactly what I would want it to do. I love how I can use the app as a remote control. It comes in super handy when typing something in. Love everything about it!
I lost my remote, and batteries died a couple times. This app saved the day. The ability to hook up headphones is a very useful feature, especially when t.v. volume is an issue. App allows more than one person to use remotes. I don't have any other way to access the variety of channels and other useful content. I got mine last year for Christmas and I use it all the time. I even take it with when I visit relatives. I know this sounds like a paid review but it's not. I think you can buy one and try it out. Not enough room to say more. :)
I love Absolutely Everything about this app except for Anyone that has the app being able to connect to my Roku device without having a password. Any random person can connect to my device. We also have multiple roku devices in the house and my movies have been cut off many times do to others connecting to my device on accident. If you could add an update where it requires a password to connect to each device that would be amazing and I would definitely give a five star rating!
Like others with the Samsung s8 and new tablets, every time my screen turns off it keeps saying I don't have a wifi connection, so I have to follow it to the settings then go back into the app. It's super annoying. It's not just every once in a while. Every day, every time I use it. It's it my power setting or anything like that. I've checked. Please fix this. There are enough people with the issue that you should make it a priority. That being said, I love the app.
I've been enjoying this app for many years on a sucession of Android phones, and find it really helpful to have a spare remote, no matter where the kids left the real one. I like the keyboard for password and search term input. Really like this app. And then I got a Chromebook. Sure, Andriod apps on Chromebook are hit and miss, and this app is missing the ability to talk to WiFi. I'm looking forward to either Google fixing the translation layer, or Roku porting to ChromeOS.
I'm using a Samsung Galaxy S8 and every time my phone locks or my screen turns off, the roku app tells me that my phone is not connected to the WiFi. It clearly is! I have no issues on my iPads, my LG G5, my Galaxy S5, or any other devices. Only my new phone running Android 7.0 has this issue. Please fix this issue. It is highly annoying
