About this game

True Fake gives you the opportunity to influence an entire demonstration. Break the system or unite the movement!

Actually, you just wanted to earn some money by distributing flyers, but you quickly realize - you and your two colleagues are not just distributing flyers here, but above all one thing: lies.

Now you have the choice: Do you want to sow distrust among the demonstrators with fake news or do you want to use facts to restore trust in the movement? In any case, one thing is clear: in order to win the game, you have to learn to distinguish between lies and truth.

But be careful! Every piece of info - every post - just everything on this demo spreads like wildfire ...

True Fake was developed in 2020 by the Leipzig studio ROTxBLAU in cooperation with the "spreuXweizen" educational campaign. In order to illustrate the dynamics of opinion-forming, the developers were inspired by ecosystems in nature.

True Fake was developed in the open source game engine Godot and is available free of charge.

The project was funded by the Federal Ministry for Family, Seniors, Women and Youth as part of the federal program "Live Democracy!", As well as by the AMADEU ANTONIO Foundation and the Saxon Ministry of Education.
