About this app

Music Blitz sees what music you play through your Spotify app and generates a light show on LIFX bulbs in response. Rather than relying on noisy microphone input or at-the-moment audio, Music Blitz responds to the whole song and coordinates the light show in advance, giving a higher quality experience.

IMPORTANT: on Android 8.1 and 9, the battery optimizer often kills the app between songs; a more persistent version is on the horizon, but the 8.1+ experience isn't ideal right now.

Options let you choose how Music Blitz detects a beat, what color chooses, which set of bulbs to choose, their brightness and blink length, and how the LIFX bulbs transitions to their new state.

Note: You MUST enable Spotify's broadcast messages via the Spotify app's settings. Music Blitz only works with Spotify and LIFX bulbs, though it may later expand to support smart bulbs other than LIFX. It requires you to be on the same wifi network as your LIFX bulbs.

Music Blitz uses your Spotify login to communicate with Spotify. The login is entirely handled by Spotify, so Music Blitz never sees your login credentials. With only this exception, Music Blitz will NEVER gather or share any of your personal information with third parties.

Music Blitz shows involve quickly changing lights. If you are sensitive to such effects, use with caution.

Works great! Although the way that you have volume detection set seems kind of backwards, and when i try to "Catch" one of my playlists from spotify (112 songs) it fails every time, Ive even given a good ol reboot and cleared the cache and data several times to no evail. I know its not my internet since my connection down is 62 mbps with 30ms latency and up of 20mbps and yet it tells me every time that its due to my wifi... Other than that it works just as intended!

Something innovative for a change! Lights respond surprisingly well. The user interface could use some work though. Some ideas: make the configuration screen as the start view, integrate the toggle button as part of it and put the rest behind a gear icon. But the very first thing should be making the color theme dark. If the lights are in a disco mode you don't want to read black text on a baby blue background! :)

The app is amazing... When it works. Most of the time you turn it on (after caching the songs even) and nothing not for entire albums. Please fix this and making the ui less windows 95 style would be awesome. Otherwise, when it does woek its awesome!

I promise I am; I am just too slow! The problem is related to Android >8, when they introduced aggressive battery optimizations. The version on the store right now worked well with earlier Android to avoid running when it wasn't useful, but that not causes newer OSes to kill it when you actually want it.
