I was ready to send the kit I got back after a half hour of multiple people trying to use this app on multiple devices. But I decided to try tech support instead. The tech support responded quickly and helped me bypass the tutorial which is the most finicky about taking the pictures. Now that the app is up and running it's AWESOME! True, sometimes the picture taking can be a bit problematic. We have to find the right lighting and background in different parts of the house during different times of the day, but if I am patient with the set up, the kids become independent learners and are sooo excited every time the create a molecule. So the star rating: Good tech support saved it from a 1, but the daily ritual of finding the best lighting prevents it from achieving 5 stardom. The information, puzzles and application are soo worth the headache of setting it up.

Image recognition is worthless and doesn't offer a way to enter what you have manually or to correct what it failed to scan. It was even hard to get past calibration and was super frustrating. Too much "help" text, because the whole thing is super confusing. Get a better UX designer please. And if you need to, make the vision task easier for yourselves with April tags or something.

As others have mentioned, great kit but this app is such a waste of time and frustrating that the information is inaccessible. The camera does not pick up the correct atoms most of the time, so much time spent just trying to get this straight. Would love it if was more accurate, so my kids could spend more time learning and not trying to adjust the angle of the atoms!
