TIME AND LOG READING MINUTES WITH AN INTERACTIVE STOPWATCH
This feature operates just like a real stopwatch, so kids can start/stop, pause to take a break, and watch their reading minutes add up! Once they’re finished reading for the day, they can enter their minutes into a personal weekly log. Parents can track kids' daily reading activity and see how many total minutes they have logged.
BOOST MOTIVATION TO KEEP KIDS READING WHILE SCHOOL IS OUT
During the summer months (May 6 to September 6), the Scholastic Reading Timer app will be tied into the Scholastic Summer Challenge, where kids can win virtual rewards when they log their reading minutes. Once they have reached their reading goal for the week, kids who are registered for the Scholastic Summer Challenge can spin the wheel of prizes. Prizes include downloadable virtual badges of beloved storybook characters like Captain Underpants and Geronimo Stilton! Kids can download their virtual badges and store them in their personal prize center.
HELP SCHOOLS BREAK THE READ FOR THE WORLD RECORD
If kids are registered for the Scholastic Summer Challenge, their reading minutes count toward the total minutes read for their school. Kids can browse school rankings to see which schools have logged the most minutes right on their mobile device. As part of the Scholastic Summer Challenge, schools are helping to Read for the World Record and break last year’s record of 95,859,491 total minutes read! The 20 schools that log the most minutes will be recognized in the 2014 Scholastic Book of World Records and will receive a congratulatory plaque. Plus, the school with the most minutes read will win a school visit from Captain Underpants creator Dav Pilkey!

SAT / ACT / GRE EXAM
SAT / ACT / GRE exam is standardised entrance test mainly taken by those candidates who want to study in the USA. The exam score is mandatory for those students who want to take admission in undergraduate courses in USA. The exam has a standard format and is divided into three sections. The exam has a set pattern of questions, curriculum, conditions of admission, and scoring etc. The paper structure, scoring scheme and pattern is standard and known to all. The exam is generally held for the purpose of granting admission in the undergraduate courses across the US. The exam is really important and almost all the colleges acknowledge the SAT as an entrance exam. The score of the SAT exam will determine your admission in your desired college. This makes the exam very famous among aspirants who want to take admission in undergraduate programmes in US.
SAT exam pattern
The SAT exam is designed to assess the skills of thinking and logical reasoning of the candidates. These are the basic skills that you acquire in your schools, but are highly valued at the college level as well. The purpose of conducting this exam is to evaluate students for their writing, reading as well as mathematical skills.
The total duration of the exam is 3 hours and 45 minutes. The SAT exam is divided into SAT Reasoning Test and SAT subject based Test. If you want to take admission in any US college on the basis of SAT reasoning score, it is just not enough to secure a seat in US colleges. But on the other hand, some colleges also consider the score of the subjects based exam. In most of the cases when we say SAT exam, it meant to the SAT reasoning test.
SAT reasoning test:
Writing: This section has essay type question section and multiple choice type questions. The essay section has allocated the time of 25 minutes.
Critical Reading: The critical reading section is divided into three sub-sections. The questions asked in this section are based on either short passage reading or long passage reading. The questions are multiple choice based questions. These questions generally evaluate a student's writing skills.
Mathematics: Mathematics section also consists of three sections. The total time allotted to this section is 70 minutes.
Eligibility for SAT exam: Students can appear in this exam either after completion of their Class XII from a recognised Indian university or education board or they can also take this test while studying in Class XII or Class XI. The students should keep college deadlines in mind while appearing in the exam. The scores that are finally considered depends upon the fact that in which college you want to apply. Students can reappear for the exam, but this action is not fruitful if higher scores are not expected.
The SAT is offered seven times a year in the United States; in October, November, December, January, March (or April, alternating), May, and June. The test is typically offered on the first Saturday of the month for the November, December, May, and June administrations. In other countries, the SAT is offered on the same dates as in the United States except for the first spring test date (i.e., March or April), which is not offered.
