I had to Google how to get my device to connect to my home wifi and even then it took a couple of attempts to set up the simple plug. Now I love, love, LOVE controlling my lights with my phone. Bye bye clunky timers. Seems the best advice I found was to turn off my phone's data before set up. Then all went smoothly. No apple needed. There's a bit of a learning curve for odd events such as when the plug loses connectivity. (Unplug for a few seconds) but otherwise smooth sailing.
Worked great with easy setup for two months. Then for no reason, it lost connection to the WiFi and can not reestablish. Called customer support, got a case number, but they never contacted me. Don't remember where I bought them and no receipt. Going to just toss them and let everyone know to not trust iHome.
Everything was working fine then all of a sudden can't connect. Can't even download and install the iHome control app any more. Can't connect the device at all. Returned the device and got a new one. Still same problem. I'll try a different brand and I suggest others to do the same. Tech support couldn't figure out the problem... RE: Honestly it doesn't matter that you don't have me on record. I spent over half an hour with tech support and was told they would get back to me. It's been about 3 days. Not waiting 3 days+ to get help on this item. Returned it, got my money back and went for the Belkin product instead. Setup was EASY and worked instantly...
Has worked perfectly for me. The only drawback is no interface with IFTTT. It would be nice to control the device with voice commands via Google home or set up rules to activate device when certain other conditions are met.
There is absolutely no excuse for this many Android users to have this much trouble to set up an outlet. Adding the plug doesn't work on my Galaxy S7 Edge, evening when doing airplane mode with just WiFi on.
This app is terrible on Android. When I first got the smartphone it worked perfectly. A few months after that my scheduled alert never worked again. Most of the time I am having to completely close the app from Android task manager and restart to get it to function properly. Even after this Android update, I can't readd my device. It errors out and after 100 tries with rebooting my device, it still doesn't work.
