This is the latest, most up to date Mortice Lock Identification application for android devices.
It is called the Ultimate Mortice Lock Identification App.
With this application and a set of gauge keys you can quickly identify a Mortice Lock. Simply activate this App and the app will asks what gauge is the lock. You use your gauge keys to get the gauge of the lock. Simply tick the box with the correct gauge. It then asks for the type of hardplate the lock has with clear images to make your selection simple. Then tick if the lock has a curtain and if so the colour. Next, the colour of the lock, then the type of finish if you can tell. If not, click ‘Any/Don’t know’. Finally, click the search button and it will display the locks matching your selection.
It shows actual images so you can compare them with what you are seeing. It’s very simple and takes around 30 seconds to identify a lock. Once identified, on many locks you can click and see the internals of the lock. Also displayed are drill and pick drill points and several kill points. For the more advanced Locksmith, you can cross reference, so if you knew the lock was an Era, you can type Era and display them all. Then select the required Lock to get the drill point.
Should you only be able to get the gauge of a lock, you can type in the gauge and the App will display all locks of the desired gauge. It’s so simple!
If you have had Mortice ID manuals in the past, they’re great to help identify a lock. This App used the definitive guide by Gary Angliss (with Garys permission). He worked with us closely on the construction of this App and additional information has been added and extra locks too. To those covered in the definitive guide, this App covers both BS and Non BS Mortice Locks.
It's essential for new or established Locksmiths.
