About this game

MAME4droid (0.139u1) is developed by David Valdeita (Seleuco) as a port of the MAME 0.139 emulator by Nicola Salmoria and the MAME team. It emulates arcade games supported by this version of MAME which includes over 8000 different ROMs.

* MAME4droid is an EMULATOR and DOES NOT INCLUDE ROMS OR COPYRIGHTED MATERIAL OF ANY KIND.

This version of MAME4droid was designed to be used with dual-core Android devices because it is based on the PC MAME version which requires higher specifications than the older versions.

Even with a high end device, do not expect "modern" arcade games from the 90s and beyond to necessarily work at full speed or compatibility. Some games like Outrun and the Mortal Kombat series are badly optimized and require at least a 1.5ghz dual core device.

With over 8000 games supported, some games will run better than others; some games may not run at all. It is impossible to support such a vast number of titles, so please do not email the developer asking for support for a specific game.

After installing, place your MAME-titled zipped roms in /sdcard/MAME4droid/roms folder.

This MAME4droid version uses only '0.139' romset.

Works really well, easy to set up. I was playing some classics in only a few minutes after just some small changes using a Bluetooth controller, however therein lies my one request to make this perfect, if I was able to map some inputs to two separate buttons or make macros for them pressing two or so at once id rate it a full five. It's hard to make it happen without just making a trigger button one of them to begin with and that's awkward for general play. Still love it, just a suggestion.

Great emulator. It runs mover 90% of the games I play. Unfortunately, the MAME CHD games I tested on it don't play well and suffers from stutter and lag problems. One example I'd like to use is NFL Blitz. Menu screens run fine, but the gameplay on the field runs 28% to 46%, and that's without the fog graphics which reduces performance by 10% to 15%. The other games that don't use a CHD run great. Great emulator, it just needs to be made for mobile devices, so CHD games can run at 100%.

It's amazing to be able to play the Arcade games that I shoved money into as a kid on my phone. The on screen buttons are responsive and fall naturally to the hand. There doesn't seem to be any noticeable lag when playing the games with a bluetooth controller. The one flaw, and it is a personal niggle I admit, is that there is no option to default to landscape mode as with most other emulators. I tend to keep my phone locked to portrait as I use it as an ebook reader as well and my emulators set to landscape.
