I just finished level two. I already knew the kana and some common kanji, and it let me skip past learning them again. The stories get progressively more difficult, but are still set up in a way that makes it easy to understand how words fit. I'm able to piece together the definition without translating the whole page. I really like that you can subscribe, but you don't need to in order to access the whole app.

Most apps focus on the alphabets but this is the best one I've found for reading. It's so simple, not overwhelming, just small bits at a time with easy quizzes at the end. it has everything you need to know, plus some extra reading and studying for each word you click on. The audio is very authentic, and you can go at your own pace. Best of all, I haven't seen any ADS yet. And I don't have to buy anything to progress as long as I complete a book. Will definitely recommend this app to my friends

I think this app is a good addition to new Japanese learners like myself. I like the example sentences that help contextualize the words even outside of the story being read. But unlike Starter to Intermediate where progressing to another level posed a challenge, the rise from Intermediate to Expert is uniform and very stagnant. Also I cannot use the XP I collect even though the news and tailored stories segment allows for them. I still have to use the keys. Is that a free version restriction?
