I have a Motorola Moto G6, it is well worth $.99 to get rid of the ascending ringtones. A little glitchy at first, but here is the setup that worked for me. Free version did not work for me, for a buck, I took a chance and paid to get license. Activate app, uncheck "New Normalization Method", select "Show notification icon" (this actually took several hours before it appeared after re-starting phone and would not work without it). This app is great once past the fustrating setup.

Unfortunately this didn't work with my Moto G5 Plus running Android 8.1.0. The volume started high, then dipped back to zero after a second, and escalated as it would have without the app. I wish the developer well, and hope they continue to improve this app for users. A side issue; I wasn't fond of having a permanent notification bar for this app on my screen. Not a big deal (and probably unavoidable), just a matter of personal taste.

update comment: it seems to work fine now... whats weird is, after you install it, it takes a few if not a half dozen rings to fully work... at first you hear just one single ring at a lower volume, then after a while (a few more incoming calls) it works fine. POS... Moto Z2 Force, rings once for half a ring then nothing... tried everything in settings and advice from others... update: that is with the box at top checked, works ok with no box checked
