Simple Home Monitor is an inexpensive home security solution that makes use of your existing home computer, webcams or unused mobile devices.
Use Simple Home Monitor with webcams or old mobile devices to detect motion while you are asleep or away, and it will report intrusions to your current mobile device and store captured image data to the cloud.
The Simple Home Monitor mobile app allows you to remotely turn on and off the alarm system with a single touch. You will also receive notifications when intrusions are detected, and allow you to browse motion captures with the swipe of a finger.
The Simple Home Monitor mobile app also allows you to convert an unused mobile device to a motion detecting security monitor with a single touch.

no explanation of what this does, I couldn't get anything to work

Hi Gary, thanks for your feedback. The description and the login page of the app both describe the other software you need to pair with the app. That software hooks up your desktop camera with the app. You can also use another (unused) phone to act as a camera. The website in the description provides full details. Sorry if that wasn't made clear.
