Was kinda worried. I was a bit worried that i'd be wasting my money on some junk app I'd never use. Wrong. This 5k training app is fantastic. Just finished my first run not knowing what was going to happen, worried I'd have to keep track things myself. Nope the app times your run, tells you when to do the different activities and has a fun little story included. Love it. Hope to upgrade to the ZOMBIES RUN! App once i'm done!
I love this app. The program is great, the plot is entertaining, and it actually got me to enjoy running. The only reason I am giving this 4 stars and not 5 is because the app hasn't been updated in years and doesn't do the greatest run tracking (e.g. no map with splits, broken down pace.) It also isn't compatible with music apps like Spotify, which was slightly annoying. But the training program is definitely worth it - better than just standard intervals.
Gamify everything! I got this along with Zombies, Run! in Sept. 2013 after 2 years of being unable to stand up or walk regularly. I worked through the 5k and then progressed onto the "all zombies, all the time" version. Major, fun incentive to get myself running regularly again once I could manage. If you need a reason to exercise, surviving the hypothetical zombie apocalypse is (for many of us) at the top of the list. Amazing use of gamification. My only suggestion would be a way to incorporate Pandora/ Grooveshark/ etc. for music inclusion as many people no longer load music onto our devices. I had real trouble getting my music loud enough without drowning out the Zombies, Run! content.
Doesn't work with Spotify Like a lot of people, i use a subscription service for my music. I don't have any music downloaded on my phone. I do have music downloaded for offline use through Spotify. This app won't let you listen to that. I can't speak for how well the app works. I am sure it's great but I won't be using it unless I can hear music during the gaps of the story.
High quality, but not standard Couch to 5K I really like the storyline and everything is done to a high level of quality. However... It is not the standard Couch to 5K program. It starts off, even on day 1, giving far too much "wiggle" room in the program and therefore does a poor job of building your endurance. The Free Form sections of the program are, I believe, were a mistaken departure from the proven Couch to 5K schedule.
This app has changed my life I have to admit I hated cardio. There was no fun for me in just running around being uncomfortable so I got fat and lazy and wouldn't run. But this app keeps me engaged, and motivated even on the days I would rather just sleep in. Its perfectly paced to go from never running ever, to running for miles without stopping, and making doing so fun.
