I previously used to be able to send SMS to my international friends' mobile numbers but that feature has now been disabled. I don't like the new layout. Skype's simplicity was its USP now it looks like it's trying too hard to keep up with Snapchat. I'm all for upgrading your designs but why remove tried, tested and loved features. Bring back the previous version.
Like many others have stated, the latest version overhaul killed skype for any meaningful use, especially for business for those of us with skype numbers. Hope MSFT listens and reverses their course of action or they will end up losing many users. Bring back what many of us relied upon such as abilty to save contacts, check who is online, easily tweak call forwarding, etc...
Microsoft team: Hey fresh new interns..... redesign our new skype any way you want.......it doesn't even have to look like skype..... Interns: sure thing np! I'm just going to roll out a red carpet and I want everyone who helped redesign Skype to lineup so I can give you a good slap on the face. Ok I'm kidding but go back to the drawing board please.
Background process usually fails to inform me of new messages! • No “user last seen” time; • No end-to-end encryption; • This would be *useful*: remind me of new msg every 2 minutes until I've read it; • After merging with my Microsoft account, it asks me almost every day to give my first and last name, grr!
The new UI is good for me but I cannot change my presence status to away, do not disturb or invisible or offline anymore. I dont wanna be forced to use the turning off notification instead of changing status function. Moreover, I have to do 2 steps to send my photo from devide. Why it doesnt show the newest one from galary when I choose insert photo? I have to open galary, find the newest one and tap send.
Skype used to be the most reliable VoIP app around. Now it's a pile of garbage. Why? Who knows - somebody probably put a BuzzFeed exjournalist in a management role and they had the brilliant idea of making the user interface a less reliable version of Snapchat. Im switching to Hangouts and whatever else I could find as soon as I can convince others to join too.
We're excited to introduce the next generation of Skype.
