Review from A Google User
Better, but now there is bluetooth issues on 4.4.2
Great app, use it for chatting and voice and video calls. I find yellow face smileys absolutely brilliant, they are so great that when I use other chats I miss those a lot! Can't say the same about all other emoticons, only some of them are very cool and I would like to have an option to choose which of the smileys to keep on my pane and which ones to hide at all. And an option to keep some of the festive icons working forever. As for emoji animations I find all of them absolutely useless.
I don't like the new layouts, and unnecessary features. It constantly logs me out on mobile, lags, and doesn't let me send images and I always get "this div is not supported" whenever I do open a chat. This is why I never wanted to update. Maybe if you fixed the fact that it logs me out and deletes my conversations when it does that, I would change my rating. This app is unreliable.
Unreliable, more often then not does not ring when being called. As if the app is going to sleep in the background. Doesn't even give a missed call notification until opening the app. Battery optimization disabled, allowed to run in background. Pixel XL stock, both app and Android fully updated... Apparently I'm not the only one with this obnoxious and frustrating issue.
In 2018 all chat apps are pretty similar. So a ranking for Skype is based on the differences with other apps. The worst thing about Skype is that it now has these stupid emoji face response buttons which make it look like every single Skype message has a :-) at the end. Terrible.
App is really slow. App often freezes while fetching new messages. Chat automatically doesn't sync in way it should. Often times when you open a chat then it start to fetch previous conversation you did on Skype app on desktop. It is really slow. Please learn something from WhatsApp. Their UI feels so fluent and on top on that app works wonderfully.
I got this app so that I could call home while in london, I payed 10pounds for credit so I could call a landline but it keeps telling me that my home phone number isn't valid!? Ive put the +61 for Australia at the start and I know the number is correct, Ive tried over multiple days and I have no idea if I can get a refund. A waste of money
