Wired security system would be far better At first it was awesome and worked flawlessly for several months. Then Samsung started updating the hub and the app. It no longer accurately knows if our phones are away or present (Samsung Galaxy) so I had to change routines which needed location info. For instance, the app thought we arrived (even though we had been home for 6 hours) and opened our garage door at 2am. Hope I don't regret buying the door locks, garage door closer, light switches, motion sensors, arrival sensors and outlets!
It's slowly getting better Update*I've had smart things for 4 months now and it's been a rollercoaster. Sometimes it worked and sometimes it didnt BUT Smartthings has been working on it and tech support has been helpful even though u email back and forth. Once they get all the kinks working it will be a great system smartthings Keep up the hard work !!!!!
Update Won't Let Me Sign in This app sort of worked sometimes. I mainly used it to turn on and off my light in my bedroom, which is hit or miss as to when that works. When it was a "miss" one night, I decided to do an update thinking that may help. Big mistake! The update forced me to log back in and I used what I thought was my password. It said it was incorrect, so I selected the recover password option and it's giving me an error saying that I need to be logged in! This is ridiculous!
Dashboard is now completely useless... Every subsection of the dashboard either open an empty screen or just crash the app... I just can't believe how bad SmartThings has become since Samsung has bought them... UPDATE: The crash and empty screen are now fixed, but the "Recently" tab still shows nothing. The QA guys must be blind and deaf...
Safe, secure and easy to set up I have had my Smart Things system set up for over a year to monitor for movement, extreme temps, and water in basement. I get alerts on my phone and can see the video remotely. I recently added a feature to turn on an electric radiator manually or automatically if temp gets too cold in basement. Much cheaper than a wired system, easier to maintain, and self screening avoids unnecessary calls to authorities.
Bad from the start So I ordered a smartthings hub, a hue hub, light bulbs, and ge light switches. I figured the added cost of the smartthings hub would help future proof me and give one app for everything. hue hub arrived first, and the setup was brilliant, everything worked out of box with very little setup. then came smartthings which I was way more excited for. Installed hub and app and still a week later it's barely working. App constantly crashes and Automation never works. Terrible beta style app and product.
SmartThings Android 2.1.3 includes a critical crash fix for users who have Lights & Switches, Doors & Locks and other solution modules on their dashboard.
