Lots of flexibility, can program which phone rings by location I love this app. I can program which phone rings depending on which WiFi network I'm connected to. So if I'm home, only home phone rings. At work, only desk phone rings. At my parents house, only parent's phone rings. In the car, only my own cell phone rings. (I have my cell phone ring in all locations for those rare times WiFi connection might be flaky.) So far it's been flawless. Question: will GV's transition to Hangouts limit this app, like it will for Groove IP (well, killing Groove IP)?
Lots of data usage The options provided by this app are perfect for me. BUT, it uses more mobile data than any other app on my phone. The only time it should use mobile data is when I go off my home WiFi, which happens exactly once per day, to change from Google Talk calls to cell calls. This should be a few KB at most. Instead it somehow manages to use 1.2 MB in the couple hours that I am actually on cell data. I pay per mb and this is not acceptable. What's going on here?
Tired of babying it The automatic settings for this app are confusing and limited, and even when you do set them up they don't work correctly. I'm tried of missing calls because of the automatic settings messing up. Useful if you just want it for the quick manual switching of settings, but that's it. I had a 4 star review for a while, I don't know if it's gone down-hill or if I'm just tired of trying to force it to work correctly.
Auto-forwarding does not work properly When I try the advanced auto forwarding settings to determines which numbers my calls are forwarded to based on what wifi network my phone is on, it doesn't work properly. I have two specific wifi settings I want to enable - work and home. When I'm home, I want my calls forwarded to my home number but NOT my work number, and when I'm at work, I want the reverse. But when I try to set up both networks under advanced settings, suddenly ALL numbers are checked for my home network, even after I uncheck my work number and save.
What's not to get? Easy to understand, either forward the calls to your Google number, your landline on file or both. I personally only forward all my calls to my Google number and it has never failed me.
Not so easy, but works I had to find just the right setting on the forwarder and on IP to get it to work the way I wanted. The instructions on Forwarder weren't that straight forward in there wording, but it worked out eventually.
