Car Safe Drive

Care Safe Drive
All the hardware you need is a smart phone and phone cradle for real driver assist. All permission are required then restart app.

Tesla’s got auto pilot but most of us would like an extra pair of eyes while we are driving but do not wish to go to the expense of purchasing a car with driver assist. I thought being a programmer was it possible to write an application that warns the driver if something is starting to go wrong on the road. So I started to write my vehicle driver assist app about 2 years ago. The biggest problem I had was lack of phone power and lack of good quality phone cameras. But I really thought out of the box to limit these issues, also newer phones have become more powerful with better cameras.

People that this app may help, taxi drivers, delivery drivers, long distance lorry drivers etc. People going on holiday, people who drive on the motorway .

Auto option only works if you have enhanced location set to on phone otherwise you have to set say urban or motorway mode on the pull down menu.

It’s got three options but the main reason I developed the app was for driving on the motorway when driving long distances. The options are traffic jam, urban and motorway. The App gives real time feedback so it is easy to identify the vehicle getting close. When you first start the App you will notice a blue square around the sensor lines. These go off after a couple of minutes. Then when a vehicle or object is identified on the road near the car or breaking, an alarm usually sounds and a blue box will surround the vehicle it’s identified for a short amount of time. This give real time feedback on the danger the car safe drive apps identified.

If the app went off all the time it would just be too annoying. Therefore it should only go off for certain events. Also there are three levels of alarm I have called them A3 = loud A2 = Loud Beep and A1 = Quiet Beep. Quiet less danger, loud more danger is the general idea.

These are some of the things that should set off the alarm but not guaranteed.

Car Breaking – this works best in night mode, day mode is very dependent on day light conditions.

Close Proximity – improved works better but vehicle must be close otherwise it get annoying.

Cars cutting in close in front of your car too close.

Cars crossing horizontally , very close.

Also it may go off with unusual car movement directly ahead.

Once an alarm goes off it will not come back on right away there is a time delay build in on purpose. The artificial Intelligence also attempts to adapt to how sensitive your phone camera is. Therefore when the App first starts it may go off while adjusting to your phone. The idea of the app is just to make you aware that there may be an issue, and sound a warning you still have to apply your own breaks or adjust your driving.

Work in progress, I am working on the out of lane control warning, the current version has this feature but I still think it can be improved therefore the default setting is currently off. Also it only works in motorway mode. It may work better on high quality phone cameras.

On the top tool bar there is a share icon next to the three dot pull down menu. Please help promote this app by sharing with a friend. Thank you.

What's New

This resolves continued sounds after a vehicle is identified and alarm already sounded. This also sets alarms off initially so it is easier to set position of sensor on road. This app starts to address urban while motorway works quite well it reduces the false positives on urban not completely but it is now better. Urban is more difficult than motorways.
