With this app you have a powerful tool to read and listen to the Holy Bible in Songoy, more specifically the dialect of Gao in Mali. The translation of the Bible into Songoy has been in progress for more than 20 years, and the team is continuing to translate the remaining books. All of the text has been tested with speakers of the language and checked by recognized translation consultants.
The Bible contains two parts, the Old and the New Testament.
From the Old Testament, the following books are now available in written form:
- Torah (Pentateuch, Tawrat): Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy
- Historical books: Joshua, Judges, Ruth, 1 and 2 Samuel, 1 and 2 Kings, 1 and 2 Chronicles, Ezra, Nehemiah, Esther
- Poetic and Wisdom books: Job, Psalms
- Prophetic books: Jonah
The whole New Testament (Injil) is available in written and audio form.
This app allows you to: Read and – in the New Testament – listen at the same time to the text, do word searches, open parallel passages, and have access to definitions of underlined words. While listening to the audio, the phrases that are read are highlighted. This facilitates enormously learning to read in Songoy.
Note: The language of the user interface in the app is French.
