Amazing product with great clarity, performance and build quality. Regular updates are a bonus to me because most makers neglect their software commitments after 6 months. Updated take minutes at most. I have the 2 play5 speakers and for 2yrs they have been solid only dropping a few times but played daily. The app does all that I need.
Used to love my Sonos system (4 years with Sonos). In the past year the system completely drops the sub pairing every single day without warning or reason. It also has days that it just doesn't want to play and the music that does play from the speakers is not even synced so it sounds like trash. Customer service was not able to help. Not sure what happened within the last year or so with their updates that screwed everything up, but I am about to sell everything and try out Bose.
Love it when it works. Sound quality is great and I love all the multiple sources and services it supports. Only problem is that it loses connections between the units at least every few days and must be restsrted thru modem/router and phone. I have a two "hubs" and as many units as possible hardwired to Ethernet in my house and there are still periodic connectivity issues. Customer support is very helpful and has been able to suggest improvements that work but it's still unstable now and then for no apparent reason... Love it otherwise!
This version of the app is awful. Clearly trying to copy Spotify's layout. Why? On android it is slow to update to next track on the main picture screen and you cannot see which track is coming up next. Very slow app with a reordering of menu options that are not pleasant to navigate. Why is grouping of rooms changing. Quite simple before. Now? Not so much. I am all for progress and change but this is not for the better. And now the recent change has resulted in none of the album artwork showing up. What is going on?
I have a sneaking suspicion that someone at Sonos has a bet about how bad they can make the app before people finally move to another system. The most recent update is the worst yet. Simply moving from room to another takes a ridiculous number of 'clicks'. Edit - I've added a star as changing rooms has been improved. Still not fantastic.
I used to like sonos and now it's terrible. It's like every time I turn it on it wants to check for software updates and then updates for features I don't and will not ever want or that are relevant to another country. So now every time I press the power on button the sonos doesn't work, I have to go find my phone or power up my PC, to waste a few minutes updating, just so I can hear some music. Result - I don't bother and don't use the system.
Introducing the Sonos app inbox. Located in the More menu, this is where you’ll find all Sonos updates and announcements. This update also launches Amazon Alexa on Sonos in Canada (English only), sends an update to CR100s containing an important message about the controller, and more.
