If it doesn't work - first of all check your media-volume level. It's probably on mute (use your device's buttons).
Second - make sure you have the necessary voice/language downloaded, as we use your devices languages & voices.
If it doesn't recognize a website it might be because it redirects to a different address. Try to use the "http://" prefix (or "https://") in the website address if you haven't. Use full website address. If that doesn't work, simply paste the text from the website.

While working, or driving, listen to interesting articles and books
TTSReader is really helpful for busy people who want to be able to listen to written content while doing something else.
For instance - you can listen to whole Wikipedia articles (just copy-paste them to here, or share directly from the browser), or to some documents you need to study for work or personal education.

Saves you tons of mobile data traffic and charges
Regular podcast apps consume a ton of data, as long audio files are also large in size. Contrary to that, TTSReader uses text to speech engines, which are built in your mobile system.

I've used this app for so many years that I've lost track of how long it's been. I love this app! I can only imagine that the paid version would be more convenient. I'll get the paid version eventually. I love being able to "read" long articles while I'm busy cleaning or doing other activities. All these years and I'm just learning that I can change the voices too! I just like the simplicity of it. It took me a while to learn some of the features but I use it for what it need and like it.

Excellent program with the exception of the menu to select voices. It's absolutely terrible. Each time you change a voice you need to scan through a huge menu without any ability to tell what voice you currently have selected. Also, the names of the voices are not designed in a way that allows you to easily discern if it's male or female or to even remember which voice you just chose.

Doesn't work very well if you send it a web site. It says "Retrieving Website's Text" with a little circle that keeps spinning and spinning forever. If you manage to get it to read a site, it might stop in the middle or start over unexpectedly. Sometimes it starts reading a previous page, even when you replace it with a new one. If you open a text file or copy and past text into it, then it seems to be okay.
