Excellent indie port Straight from the PC version I grew up playing. A few issues, such as AI, bugs and a small lack of direction keep the game from being polished. Otherwise, great game!
Tiny UI Not playable on a 7 inch screen. Game is well reviewed but not doable on less than a full sized tab
Great Game, Mediocre UI, Bad bugs Avernum is a great "Old School" western style RPG - quests are plenty, and you have the freedom to go anywhere you want in a very large and interesting world. The Android port has quite a few UI problems though: text is very small (on my nexus 7), and I have to be careful to make sure I pick the right dialogue option. A confirmation button would be great here. Countless times I have pressed on the wrong square and sent my characters the wrong way in combat. A few times, the enemy would be in an unclickable location behind a wall or slope. Also, there are a few game-destroying bugs - for example, it is possible to get your save corrupted, losing the contents of chests in the dungeon/city maps of the region you are currently in. It is important to keep multiple saves if this happens to your game. This game would easily be a 5 if it were not for the bugs and UI problems.
Spiderweb Software is great. I've been playing their games since 1997. The game is really thought out and in depth. It is just as good as many of the other games from the big name companies. I can't wait for Avernum 2: Crystal Souls to be released on mobile platforms.
Loved it at first but it just keeps crashing since the last android update. Please update the game so I can play again
Great game! Lot of effort went into the story. Good humor too.
Welcome to Avernum: Escape From the Pit. Stay awhile ... there's plenty in store for you.
Here's what's in store in version 1.0.3:
- Fixed cases where game would stop responding after special encounters or at pop up dialogs.
Enjoy your visit to Avernum - you may never leave :).
