Welcome to this course in Norwegian. The course is intended for students who know none or very little Norwegian allready.
In this course we will follow an exchange student named Maria and her Norwegian friend Ole. They are both students in the city of Bergen, and in the course we will explore Bergen together with them. There is also a murder mystery...!
Each lessons in the course will present several senteces in Norwegian, followed by a direct translation of every word, and a natural translation of the full sentence. You should study the lesson until you are familiar with the words used. When you can read and understand the text summary whithout problems, you are ready to move to the next lesson.
The app also has a word quiz. You can use the quiz to drill the meanings of different words. The words used in the quiz are the same words used in the course texts.
Note: The course is not yet complete, but I plan to add more lessons later if I get positive feedback on what I have done allready. I hope to eventually add sound recordings too, but you won't find that yet. For now you probably need a Norwegian speaker to help you with the pronunciations.
There are two offical ways of writing Norwegian, called Bokmål and Nynorsk. Most students who want to learn Norwegian are teached Bokmål only, and it's very hard to find learning materials in Nynorsk. I have talked to students who learned Bokmål first, then they discovered and fell in love with Nynorsk, and wished they had learnt that instead. I hope this course can give more students the opportunity to learn Nynorsk.
