Established in 1995, WineNZ Magazine has built tremendous brand recognition nationwide as the leading NZ wine information source, promoting wineries and wines, and travel to wine regions throughout New Zealand.
All the wines in our tastings are judged blind, grouped in flights by region or style. All the samples are served to judges in pre-poured glasses to ensure that there are no visual cues to suggest the identity of the wines so that all wines are assessed impartially. When a guest judge’s wines are entered, their marks are removed from the final average to avoid any conflict of interest. At the end of the judging, the top wines of each category are assessed blind for a second time. The judges then decide which will be awarded the highest accolade of “Top Wine”. The “Top Value” award goes to the highest scoring wine of $25 or under.
