About this app

Lakshmi or Mahalakshmi is the Hindu goddess of wealth, fortune, and prosperity. She is the wife and active energy of Lord Vishnu. Lakshmi is also called Thirumagal because she is endowed with six auspicious and divine strength even to Vishnu. When Vishnu descended on the Earth as the avatars Rama and Krishna, Lakshmi descended as his respective consorts: Sita (Rama's wife) and Rukmini (Krishna's wife). In the ancient scriptures of India, all women are declared to be embodiment of Lakshmi. The festivals of Diwali and Sharad Purnima (Kojagiri Purnima) are celebrated in Lakshmi's honor.

This application is in devotion towards Lakshmi. It has the below slokas and mantras in Kannada and English with audio. The audio helps to learn the mantra pronunciation.

All these slokas and mantras can be chanted everyday. All Fridays are considered auspicious for Lakshmi Puja. The Friday before the full moon in the Hindu month of Sraavan is considered specially sacred and Varalakshmi puja. The festive month of October is Lakshmi's special month. Lakshmi Puja is celebrated on the full moon night of Kojagari Purnima.Diwaali, the festival of lights, is also an occasion for Lakshmi Puja. Three days during Navarathri are also celebrated for Lakshmi.
Diwali, Lakshmi Jayanti, Phalguna Purnima, Sharad Purnima, Mahalakshmi Vrat, Kojagari Puja, Gaja Lakshmi Puja and Varalakshmi Vrat are very important.

Ashtotharam or Ashtotharasathanamavali are generally 100 or more names venerating the deity, in this application it is Lakshmi. Ashtotharams are chanted while offering flowers to the deity during daily pooja. One can chant Lakshmi ashtotharam during pooja everyday.
