I have been using this app for years and I was happy with it. I was able to synch up my data to my local PC. When they moved to the cloud format I did not want to have my precious info in some cloud server. Unfortunately you can't back up your data to your local PC anymore unless you pay their yearly fees. I'm moving to a new solution. Sorry guys this is a great way to lose customers.
Revised score upward. Have not experienced all problems others report. Maybe just lucky. Meets my needs fine. Do wish I could keep open permanently on home computer, but is minor inconvenience. I use it for everything.
I got a (bad) surprise: due a problem with my credit card, the service renewal wasn't completed and SplashID simply lock me out my data in a key moment, plus without access to credit card data. Being a customer for years made no difference, SplashID didn't fall back my service to a free tier, and decided to hijack my data instead. This was unpleasant, embarassing (yes, have no access to my data in a key moment even to pay them on spot) and I felt disrespected as a customer. Software itself is fair, but evaluating other options I decide to move to a different service.
I would not use this app if you are just getting started with a password keeper. The latest upgrade they removed the ability to sync over local WiFi - forcing you to pay their subscription if you want to sync your passwords. Like a crack dealer - lure you in with a good product and then make you pay to continue using it. Not the kind of company I want to do business with.
Update: just got an email that says my lifetime license expires in October, and I have to pay subscription even though I'm not on version 8. I've paid for 2 "lifetime" licenses since Palm Pilot days. I am using version 7 of the app now, and it works fine for me. I can sync just fine with my PC, but now SplashData wants subscriptions for this software. Initially the fee was only if you wanted cloud backup... Now it's $10/yr to sync locally...even for users that have already paid twice.
I purchased the full 'Splash Suite' way back when it was developed for the Palm Pilots! That 'what', some 20 + 'years' that this company has been selling their software? One would 'think' they would be experts at what they're doing. As time went on, they eliminated more and more of the programs, until only the password protector remained. And, 'of course', they could never leave well enough alone. Constantly changing things, so they could hit people up for more money! What once was one of my most favorite program/app, had turned into nothing but a nightmare! Literally 'weeks' of my time, 'wasted', writing back and forth to tech support people who, (for sure), doesn't know the program, or even what it's supposed to do! They resort to 'lying' when they don't know answers to questions, and will have you do things that can't be reversed! The company sucks, the tech support sucks, and now the program sucks! Look for a better app! Compared to this one, a better one should not be very hard to find! It has got to a point to where they have even stopped responding to my 'pleas' for support! They can't come up with solutions to problems that 'they' created! I don't know who's running that company these days, but it sure appears that 'greed', and not technology is their only purpose for existing! 'Stay away' from this, and any other applications they try to sell you!
