About this app

Sporlyst Tracker turns your phone into your race transponder. Once you join an event, it shares your GPS position with the organizer's race control so your team, your supporters and the safety crew can see where you are, from the start line to the finish.

You need a code from your race organizer to use this app. It is not a general-purpose fitness or navigation tracker, and it only ever sends your position to the event you joined.

Getting started
1. Your organizer gives you a QR code with your bib number and tracking code.
2. Scan it with the camera, or import a screenshot of it from your photos. You can also type the code in by hand.
3. Tap start at the start line. Tap pause when you're done.

During the race
• Background tracking- keeps sharing your position with the screen off and the app closed, so you can put your phone away and ride.
• Works without signal - every GPS fix is recorded on your phone and uploaded automatically when you come back into coverage. Dead zones don't leave gaps in your track.
• Next cutoff - see the next time checkpoint ahead of you and your projected finish, so you know whether you're inside the limit.
• Request help -the SOS button sends your position and bib straight to the race organizers and tells them you need assistance.
• Withdraw - if you abandon, mark yourself withdrawn so the organizers stop looking for you. You can undo it if you change your mind.
• Pause any time - you decide when your position is being shared.

For support vehicles
Sweep vehicles, medics and marshals get their own on-duty mode: scan the assist QR from the organizer, go on duty to share the vehicle's position with race control, and go off duty when the shift ends.

Battery
Races are long, so the app is built to be careful with your phone. It adjusts how often it uploads depending on where you are in the race, and if your battery drops below 20% it tells race control it is stopping, saves your progress, and switches itself off so you keep enough charge for the phone calls that matter. Charge up and start again and your distance carries on where it left off.

Location and privacy
This app collects location data to share your position with the organizer of the race you joined, including in the background while the app is closed or not in use. That is the whole purpose of the app: it is how race control follows the field, checks riders against cutoffs, and finds anyone who needs help.

Your position is sent only to the race you joined, only while you have tracking switched on, and only for the duration of the event. Sign out or withdraw and it stops. The app does not read your photo library, QR screenshots are handed to it one at a time by the Android photo picker and decoded on your device.

Important
The SOS button alerts your race organizers. It does not contact the emergency services. In a genuine emergency, call your local emergency number first.
