Story

Visions――
The hopes and dreams of
legendary warriors given life.

Lapis――
A world of crystals and the visions that slumber within.

Harnessing the power of the crystals,
mankind prospered, nations flourished.
But just as day gives way to night,
that era of peace proved but a fleeting illusion.

Now, as their world stands on the precipice
of ruin, two young knights summon visions
to their side as they strike out on a journey
to chase the shadows.

So begins a new tale of crystals,
and the heroes who would save them...

FFBE is a fine addition to the Final Fantasy series. The story mode is styled after old-school FF turn based combat and is really fun to play. However, my main reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is the sheer over-complexity of the game overall. I love having a zillion characters from all of the FF series to work with, but in order to progress these characters, or getting new ones, you run into a massive amount of different items you must obtain. This makes the games very confusing and frustrating.

The game is great, with what seems like hundreds of different side games to play, in the form of quests and missions. It really has me hooked. The only drawbacks to the game are: - seems like long load times for nearly everything (of course this is the first "real" game I've downloaded for my phone... - so many alternate quests, missions, side games, it's a lot to keep track of. I spend a lot of time just trying to remember what I was doing in the game (and real life)... - almost no instructions

Edit: I have revised my previous rating. The maintenance times are confusing but I am used to it now and know how long I have to complete each event. The problem is the events require too much dedication to get all the bonus items. It's impossible. It's a great gatcha game with an original story and wonderful music. The level of customization is engrossing. At first, I didn't think I would ever get a Neo Vision character without paying, but I have since gotten 5. They are an awesome addition.
