About this game

A remodeled 2D take on the second game in the world-renowned FINAL FANTASY series! Enjoy the timeless story told through charming retro graphics. All the magic of the original, with improved ease of play.

Our epic tale begins with four young souls orphaned during the struggle between the Palamecian Empire and the rebel army. On their journey, the youths join forces with the white wizard Minwu, Prince Gordon of Kashuan, Leila the pirate, and many others. Behold the beautiful and sometimes tragic twists of fate that await you on your adventure.

FFII introduced a unique skill level system that strengthens different attributes of the characters depending on their fighting style instead of leveling up. Use the key terms you learn in conversation to unlock new information and progress in the story.

This innovative game series takes an ambitious turn in this second installment in the FINAL FANTASY series!

The game feels good overall. Controls feel smooth, and the "tap mode" works surprisingly well. Graphics look nice and give that nostalgic feel without going overboard. The mobile version is missing some features from the console and PC versions (changing encounter rates, portrait of characters when talking to them, and fast walking outside of tap mode). FF2 has always been a weird game to play, but this version, I'm my opinion, is the best way to play it.

Similar to FF1, a great port of this game! Virtually any issues I have are with the game itself, rather than anything about this particular version of the game; in fact, this might be the definitive way to play FF2. The same issues with FF1 exist here as well: the font and battle menu buttons are rather small, and the virtual thumbstick is difficult for me to move around with. However, those are fairly minor complaints, and the game itself is an excellent port!

The old version was a bit janky with how the touch screen interface was rigged to work with it, but I was able to get the flow easily enough. In this one, i find myself unable to get used to the controls and menus. It's nice to move diagonally, but the way its implemented makes navigation more difficult. The battle menus are inconsistent, sometimes the back button is in the list, sometimes its somewhere else. Not much in settings that can help either. A bit more polish is needed there.
