With all the competition from from the many amazing free/open source podcast apps out there, you'd think that one paired with a paid, monthly service would be just as polished and feature-rich. This app is horrendous. First off, the resume feature doesn't work (despite the British voice saying 'resuming episode'). This is especially annoying because the poor design means I keep accidentally skipping to the next episode. Somehow, there doesn't seem to be a way to jump to the middle or end of a podcast either. I'm paying for access to this content, why can't you let me jump around it? Which brings me to the reason I downloaded Stitcher: catching up on a podcast. Literally every major free podcast app lets me sort from oldest to newest, so why does it take so long to load the next 10 episodes on the list, even with latest Snapdragon chip and rock-solid WiFi? Sure makes it hard to start a show from the beginning. Luckily I only have one podcast to catch up on that has its archives on Stitcher, so with any luck I can cancel before my trial ends. The content selection seems decent, but this app is a deal-breaker.
This is one of my favorite apps when it isn't being infuriating and difficult, which is about half the time. Great for listening to current episodes offline. The listen later feature can be extremely glitchy, often playing the same episode repeatedly, even if you've selected an entirely different show. I mostly use the app in car mode so it can be incredibly distracting when it decides not to cooperate.
App doesn't allow for storage of podcasts on removable media, had a bunch in listen offline and ALL just randomly re-downloaded and filled up ALL my internal phone memory. Seems this app is intent on people using all their data if not on unlimited
It would be 5 stars except that the podcasts I listen to keep randomly getting interrupted by ads. The podcast will indicate I listened to the whole thing, but it could be 15 minutes in and it cuts off and goes straight to some dumb advertisment. I get advertising, but do it before or after, not smack dab in the middle.
Loved this app when I first downloaded it a year ago! I use it for hours on end as I do work and commute. Over the past month, however, it has been unable to buffer my podcasts and some have even been listed as unavailable. I may be forced to switch platforms in the near future as this problem only is becoming more frequent!
When I first downloaded it I thought it was great. Ads are infrequent and unobtrusive considering the service provided, and I found all my favorite podcasts no sweat. However, for reasons I have yet to figure out, lately this app has been practically useless. It won't open more than half of the time and crashes frequently. I really wish it would work again because I do like this more than any other podcast app.
