Really good quality I have purchased this TTS engine and several of the voices. I have been most pleased with the quality and clarity of the voices. I use them not only on my android, but in several desktop computer applications, and the UK English male voice is a wonderful substitute for the built-in one that comes with "Evan" the personal assistant. I would be even happier if the SVOX engine integrated with more applications.
Much better than the stock Android voice and better options too. Plus you can get different languages. I currently have U.S. Grace and both U.K. voices (female and male) and love listening to them all. I have them setup as the default voices to hear when my tablet outputs any voice. Currently that is mostly either Moon Reader+ reading my ebooks to me as I drive, or the voices also are used for Google Navigation. Definitely give it a go and try it all out. You'll be glad you did.
hitting the 2 year mark - abandonware no update for almost 2 years drops this app in the abandonware bin, it does work, but system changes in the OS may not work well for new OS versions.. as we have already had several OS updates since the last time this app was updated.. I'd hold off on buying any voices for a while. Google's native voice output app has come a long way and sounds better when you download the expanded packs..
Got it working in marshmallow again. If you're on android 6.0.0 or greater this works but you have to change a default setting. Under "Language and Input" look for TTS options, then under Svox options unchecked "Use Optimized Engine". You might have to drill down in advanced settings. I had never tried this setting in Lollipop perhaps it workshop there too. I still believe this is the best TTS option for android. The ability to customize pronunciation set it up above all others. Just don't expect support, I believe this app is abandoned.
Was great till ICS PLEASE update it to work properly with ICS. Works on Navigation and not much else. Used to work on GB apps so I guess its a matter of you updating SVOX. Seems like its been going on since ICS has come out that there are a lot of people contacting you to get it fixed. As for as I can tell from what I have seen there is no response. I suggest that people avoid paying for this until its been updated past 2011.
NEEDS IMMEDIATE ATTENTION!!! I understand the comments about cost now. 04/19/2014. I installed the app to try it to see if it will read kindle books for my Dad who is blind. After installation I installed several trial voices and EVERYONE of them said that the trial period has expired. Hmmm, they expired before I even installed them. Reminds me of Dell computer that did the same thing to me on a NEW computer purchase which they refused to warrant because they said the warranty expired a month before I purchased it. Cost is not the prob
