Used to be great, but since the latest patch (13 Dec 2016) you can no longer play your videos via an external 3'rd party media player app. They only play with the default included player, which is terrible. Please fix this ASAP, this is one of the reasons I've purchased the Synology NAS in the first place!
For some reason, the app only plays videos when I enter the ip address (local). If I log in to the app using the nas server name, it logs in successfully and I can browse through the videos, but when I try to play it, it won't play the videos. It will look like it's trying to load up the video but then immediately kick it back to the video summary screen. (yes my routing is correct since I can actually login and browse the video). I can get around this by logging into DSFile using the nas server name, navigate to my videos folder, and then play the videos.
I love this app!! Only problem that I'm having is that it crashed when I try to change the download location. Just selecting the option in the settings causes the app to crash. I would really like to be able to download videos to my SD card. Otherwise I have no complaints.
It's missing the remote control if I play the movies via windows or browser app. There should also be media info written somewhere (or have a Chromecast ready badge). Lots of stuff is unplayable on it.
Used to work just fine. The last upgrade which was forced does not work at all. Garbage!
Works just fine on all platforms except chromecast. It is a huge shame.
