If you have a mobile device with a MT6577/MT6589(T)/MT6592 chipset, you probably noticed the GPS functionality is pretty bad. Most notably, it can be quite difficult to get a 'fix'. This can be resolved by saving recent EPO files, which are used for Assisted GPS. These EPO files can be downloaded manually (which takes some time), or you could just use MT GPS!
This application retrieves the latest EPO files and saves them to the right location. The files should be updated daily to make sure you can always get a GPS fix quickly. The usage is pretty straightforward, but here is a set of instructions:
- Make sure your phone is rooted
- Run MT GPS
- Download the EPO files
- Go to Location in Settings and enable everything
- Turn on your Wi-Fi
- Start the app requiring GPS!
This should be sufficient to get GPS working on most of the devices with a MT chipset. However, if it still is not working after following the steps above, try this:
- Update EPO files as stated above and make sure Wi-Fi is turned on
- Go to Location in Settings and enable everything
- Download MobileUncle from the store
- Run MobileUncle
- Choose 'Engineer Mode'
- Choose 'Engineer Mode (MTK)'
- Go to the tab 'Location', and choose 'YGPS'
- Go to the tab 'Information', and choose 'hot', then 'full', then 'AGPS RESTART'
- Start the app requiring GPS!
If it still is not working, chances are you have a mobile phone with a faulty GPS chip. Some phones have poor antennae, which means you can't fix the GPS issues with an application. This application has been tested on a variety of phones with various MT chipsets, but we can't test all the phones available on the market. Thank you for your understanding.

Today some apps store big files over the internal SD card (e.g. games, podcasts, offline RSS content, pictures, videos, offline navigation software). Typically users have a small internal sd card size (~16GB) while the external SD is a lot bigger (~32-64GB). Most of these apps users download from the Play Store save their application data in the internal sdcard by default and don't have an option to use the external SD card to store data so they starve your internal SD card memory. FolderMount is the solution to this issue. This app has the ability to link folders in your internal sdcard to folders in your external sdcard thereby populating the internal sdcard folders with content that really exists in the external card. This helps us free space and have multiple games/apps with big data stored simultaneously without the need to uninstall. For Nexus devices with no external sdcard, this application should help link folders to a usb flash drive for example.
Features of FolderMount:
* Mount internal SD card folders to external SD folders.
* Move content from internal to external when a pair is added. (Dialog prompt)
* Support for Android 2.3 - 5.0.
* Holo themed throughout and an intuitive GUI design.
* It will check SDCARD mount status and remount if necessary.
Limitation of the free app:
* Only 3 mount pairs allowed
* File Explorer does not list the sizes of the displayed folders
* Some restrictions apply on the on the type/path of source folder
Purchase "pro" from within the app to unlock these limitations.
* Add a folder pair. Source is the internal sdcard and destination is your extSdCard
* After adding, FM will offer to move the files for you. Click yes.
* Wait until the move operation is done then click on the PIN. If PIN turns green, you're all set.
* The files will exist in both the source and destination after mounting. This is expected and is normal. The files you see in your internal sdcard actually reside in your external sdcard now and if you "unpin" the pair, you'll see that your internal sdcard is empty again.
There are other apps that do the same functionality but this is the first to bring you support for Android 4.2 with a Holo themed app and an intuitive interface.
Special thanks goes to Androidizen for creating the video promo of this app.
Have fun :-)

Standard, built to cause the engineering menu, you need to dial *#*#3646633#*#* , which is not very convenient and practical - is a tiny application designed to eliminate this inconvenience :)
- Has a minimum size - just 25KByte.
- Does not require any permits.
- Do not "hanging" in memory.
- No advertising.
!! Application is only for devices running MTK (MediaTek). If you have a different platform, you will get a message that the device is not supported with the proposal to uninstall this applicaton.
!!! Attention. On some devices (basically, these are some models of Huawei) manufacturers denies access to the Engineering Menu, in connection with which these devices will be able to function the program only with the given Root access.

Currently support for MT6589/MT6592 is tested but it should work for any other Mediatek devices which use EPO files.

What makes this app different? Currently this is the only application that will automatically download the EPO files for you on a schedule in the background.
Use this application at your own risk! I recommend making full backups before using.
This application enables you to automatically download the EPO files on a daily, weekly or monthly basis if you would like to do so without any interaction required.
It has a One-Click feature(OK it's 2 clicks :D ) that enables you to quickly get some of the optimal settings for your device in your region.
A backup of your original gps.conf and build.prop files are made with automatic restore.
*Mediatek device using EPO files
*Minimum Android version Ice Cream Sandwich
*Root access (Ideally with SuperSU, may work with others)
What are EPO files?
AGPS enabled GPS module can start-up faster, perform faster TTFF (time to first fix), and obtain faster positioning information under weak signal environments.
On average, using AGPS cuts the GPS module "cold-start" time by half, and "warm-start" down to one second.
When GPS receiver is powered on for the first time, almanac and ephemeris data from the satellites must be transmitted continuously for 40 seconds without interruption to the GPS receiver for normal operation.
By uploading pre-calculated almanac and ephemeris data in proprietary "EPO (Extended Prediction Orbit)" data format to the GPS module, the waiting time for the initial data transmission from the satellites is now significantly shortened. The EPO data contains predicted ephemeris data for 7/14/30 days and need to be re-downloaded once it expires.
What are NTP servers?
NTP servers provide your mobile with a very accurate time reference that help ensure a fast GPS lock.
As standard most Mediatek phones use a Chinese server for this and so a connection from anywhere else in the world is likely to be very slow. With this app you can set the NTP servers to ones that are closer to your own location.
How this app works:
*The application can download the files on-demand or on a daily, weekly or monthly schedule.
*Download is done from a more stable location for the EPO files than the FTP location that Mediatek previously used.
*The files are downloaded to a temporary location in the application folder and then moved to /data/misc
*To automate downloads, select your required frequency, switch the toggle to "ON" and save.
*An unobtrusive flash message will display briefly "EPO Updated" when the files have been updated at the scheduled time.
What One-Click does:
*Backs up your original config files.
*Updates your EPO files.
*Deletes your mtkgps.dat file for regeneration.
*Updates your gps.conf file with NTP time servers appropriate for your region.
*Injects a line into your build.prop which puts the Dalvik VM in a mode which enhances the accuracy of the GPS.
Added monthly and weekly scheduling of download.
Disabled monitor service when scheduling is not used.
Added gps.conf time server tweaks.

In addition, it has the remarkable new feature of showing the exact street address of your current location. Through ground-breaking research and development that integrates GPS location with advanced map technologies, the eGPSlite app can find addresses with extremely high accuracy. The address displayed includes the street number and name, city, state and zip code.
When could you use the current address feature? There are dozens of possibilities:
-In a strange city, you visit a restaurant, bar, or attraction you like. The current address feature will let you identify where you are and save it for future reference.
-If you are visiting a place where you don't know the exact address but you want to direct a friend there, you can pull up the current address in eGPS Lite to provide them the correct location for use in their own GPS devices or mapping program
-If you are on the road and drive past an interesting location, eGPSlite can give you the exact address so you can look it up later.
-While driving, if you are looking for an address on a long street, the address feature can show your current address and position so you know how many blocks or doors ahead you must continue toward your destination.
-Often times, storefronts or offices on a city block will not show their street address on the door. With eGPSlite, you can find the exact street address of the place you are standing and use it to direct yourself to the right entrance.
-If you are house hunting, pub crawling, or hopping between open houses, it can be hard to keep track of where you are. Instead of needing to go outside and look at the address, you can use the address feature on your phone to remind yourself of which address you are visiting.
-If you are traveling or on a road trip, the address feature can help you discover which town you are visiting by providing the exact address.
-If you are trying to get directions from someone over the phone when you are in a strange place, the address feature will let you tell them exactly from where you are starting.
-Even if you know the exact address of the place you are visiting, you might not know the zip code. This may be needed if you want something shipped there, if you are looking up local establishments, or for other local information. Just click on the app to get your exact location, and it will provide the zip code for you.
-If you are an avid reviewer or blogger online, marking addresses found with this feature will let you keep an inventory of places you've been so that you can look them up again when you are ready to write about them.
Once you have access to constant, accurate address information, there is no end to the uses you will find for it. This feature sets eGPS Lite apart from other GPS app competition.

Various Nexus and "stock Android" devices do not automatically "mount" mass storage devices (such as USB sticks). StickMount has been made to solve this problem, and give you access to the files on your USB connected storage from all your apps.
StickMount is known to work on many devices, but is built *only* with *Nexus* devices in mind.
Once StickMount is installed and you connect a USB stick with a "USB host / OTG cable", the device will show you a popup if you want to open StickMount. It is advised to tell the device that you want to do this by default.
If you have just installed StickMount and you already had a USB stick connected, you must manually launch the program, or disconnect/reconnect the USB stick for StickMount to start working.
Mass storage devices are mounted to "/sdcard/usbStorage/xxxx/".
----- (Pro) Kill apps preventing unmount -----
Sometimes an app has a file in use located on the USB device, and won't let go of it. This can prevent StickMount from unmounting the USB device. It will seem like the device stays connected (this is harmless). StickMount Pro provides an option that attempts to kill (terminate) all the apps that are preventing the unmount from succeeding.
----- (Pro) Media scan -----
StickMount Pro supports triggering the media scanner on each (un)mount action. This will automatically make the files on your USB device available in apps like Gallery and Music. Please note that the media scanner is not a visible process on all Android devices - it might actually work silently in the background without any visual cues. It may take a minute for your files to show up, so don't panic if they don't show immediately.
Even if you have this option enabled, you can prevent folders from being scanned by placing an empty file called ".nomedia" in that folder. If you put it in the root of the USB device, the entire device will not be scanned.
----- (Pro) Mount as partition label -----
Instead of using the block device name for the partition, use the partition label as mount name, falling back to uuid or block device name if the label is unavailable.
----- (Pro) Create symbolic links -----
Create symbolic links in /mnt and /storage to the actual mounts in /sdcard/usbStorage/
----- Filesystem support -----
The filesystems supported depends on your device firmware. On most devices, at least vfat/fat/fat32 and ext2/3/4 are supported. On the latest Android versions, ntfs is also supported in read-only mode. Some devices also support exfat out the box, but most do not.
StickMount can utilize the "ntfs-3g" and "mount.exfat-fuse" binaries to add support for ntfs (untested) and exfat, but these are not included. If you place the "ntfs-3g" or "mount.exfat-fuse" files in the root of your internal storage ( /sdcard ), StickMount will automatically use them.
You can find the needed files here:
----- Troubleshooting -----
For some users, the app appears not to work, while in fact it is the device itself or the cable not working. One OTG cable is not the other OTG cable. If you have a USB stick with a light on it, it should light up when you connect it to the Galaxy Nexus using your OTG cable. If it does not, either your cable or your Nexus is faulty. 99 out of 100 times it is going to be your cable. That the cable works fine with another device does not mean anything! Cables known to work on a one devices may not work on another device.
SD card unmounting: If your SD card unmounts when unmounting a USB device, you have a bug in your kernel. This is *not* a bug in StickMount !
