I think the app is great and the thermostat works, but the most basic "smart" features are behind a pay wall. Any savings that the "adaptive heating" could bring are offset by the subscription fee that, honestly, doesn't include anything above basic functionality. Tuning the thermostat so it does what is advertised and turning off when I leave the home are core functionalities. If the Ai assist offered anything that required server work on tado's side, I'd pay for, but it really doesn't.

The app itself is okay, what's not okay is the logic of the thermostats. They never worked well, deciding only to open valves at 20%, which doesn't really work depending on the valve, leading to rooms being too cold when you want them warm and then too warm because the thermostat overshoots turning off when the temperature is higher than the target which with floor heating it means you're ending with a sauna instead. Tado: never again.

Won't connect. Bridge can't find devices. App doesn't connect bridge/phone to the temporary WiFi network to complete set up. Devices won't work on a 5Ghz WiFi network. I've spent an hour of my time trying to get stuff to work. I started opening articles on the tado website about what to do if it doesn't connect... and then I lost interest. For the price, I was expecting better. Everything is going back. 🤷‍♂️
