A spot on recreation of an underappreciated classic Mined out is one of the great games of the spectrum era, and tends to get forgotten about in this post minesweeper world. This lovingly crafted recreation brings the game back to life wonderfully. Controls are spot on, and the original charm still dives through Save Bill the worm!
Great game if you're into minesweeper I haven't heard of this game before, and according to Wikipedia it was the first of its kind. Followed by 'Relentless Logic' - which is commonly regarded as the game that inspired Minesweeper itself, this app was an excellent chance for me as a huge Minesweeper addict to go back and play the original sprout of genius that started it all. To sum it up, if you like minesweeper and you like having direct control of your character, you're gonna enjoy this game.
Awesomeness!! This was the first game I ever played on my ZX Spectrum and has always remained one of my all time favourites. I even coded a version of it in Turbo Pascal for a programming project in college. To find such an amazingly brilliant version of it for my phone is like having all of my birthdays come at once. It even uses the original graphics and sounds, it's like having my old spectrum in the palm of my hand. Everyone should own this game.
A surprisingly challenging and addictive game! I don't know what it is with trying to work out a safe path through the minefield but it is extremely challenging. You had a similar mechanic with the Minesweeper app in old versions of Windows, but you haven't got the heart stopping moment of thinking you're safe and then moving onto a mine by mistake. And then you get this replay moment where the game taunts you in how you moved cautiously around a mostly empty map before blowing yourself up on the most densely mined part of the map. Add to that the ZX Spectrum 8-bit feel to the game which is both retro and highly polished..and that this game was written in less than a week and it is a pretty impressive production. This game would be worthy of £2 or £3 pounds of anyone's money, but at £1 it's quite frankly a giveaway for the nail-biting moments you have stepping forward in a leap of faith onto a square that you hope isn't mined. I've got all of the TCKSoft back catalogue but this replaces Jumping Jack as my favorite TCKSoft game :)
