Termux combines powerful terminal emulation with an extensive Linux package collection.
• Enjoy the bash and zsh shells.
• Edit files with nano and vim.
• Access servers over ssh.
• Develop in C with clang, make and gdb.
• Use the python console as a pocket calculator.
• Check out projects with git and subversion.
• Run text-based games with frotz.
At first start a small base system is downloaded - desired packages can then be installed using the apt package manager. Access the built-in help by long-pressing anywhere on the terminal and selecting the Help menu option to learn more.

When I first installed it I had to uninstall it almost immediately as it seems to not solve my problem. But due to persistence in finding solution I stumbled upon a tutorial which made me realise the potential of this great work. In fact I am more than excited to have such a wonderful app. This is the best terminal for android, better than the popularly acclaimed Terminal Emulator. Had it been possible to give more than 5 star I had give a 10 star. Well done guys...you just made my life easier

Excellent and crucial android app. Though the volume being the control key would be a great thing to mention in the welcome message. just sayin. Anyway ...thanks devs for the solid tool.

just read the help section, when you want to use a note editor use the volume down in stead of the ctrl key for touch keywords don't have one before I read that I was slightly less impressed but now knowing fixed that

Couldn't even try it. Keyboard disappeared after switching to browser for a moment and won't come back unless restart the phone. Force stop didn't help.

The more I learn about this app the more I love it. You can do just about everything you'd reasonably want to do on an android device using bash. Vim, neofetch, sl, cmus, and the other apps make that while barely useful, is incredibly entertaining. The fact that Python and pip can be install make this even more useful as you could theoretically develop python apps using your preferred terminal text editor. The fact that openssh can be installed transforms this into something genuinely useful as it can be used to remote into your Linux desktop and potentially get some real work done. Or you can use your Linux desktop to remote into your Android device and have a physical keyboard without the need for an OTG cable. If I had one feature request, it would be the ability to send modifiers like control or escape. This would make using apps like nano and ranger a lot easier.

Perfect terminal app for non rooted devices. App installs everything under its own directory so does not require root permission. Please read links from app description for common package list.termux itself suggests packages when we try common commands. Refer links ctrl key and other shortcuts. Great app.
It is more than useful, it is powerful. I am learning it. How do I open more than one shell?
I hope, by this app... I could use adb command(my phone as host) to another android. Unfortunately, can't even done the 'apt-get install android-tools-adb' command.
if I had one more wish, it would be a swiping session-switch. 'keyboard' and 'new session' options have niche on the tap&hold-menu.
Nice emulator. By my experience, everything works as it should. Congratulations! Hope you have success with your projects! Keep going! print("good job, coder")
Started toying with it and looks solid! However, I'd like to add the ability to install dev environments for golang (go) and haskell (stack). I could help with the development
If it's not in Termux's deb repo, I can probably find it among the 600k packages available across pip, gem, and npm.
brilliant work. I was able to port yaze very easily using it. So now in old timer cp/m heaven :)
Dude, this app makes me feel so at home and in control coming from apple land. Android is truly an upgrade now
A very good app. I just wish there were arrow keys. Is there a way to bring them up?
When you can't find a root for your device and you want more than a few cmds, Termux is the best!
It is probably the best tool for Linux users who want to take a break from their PC.
Having problems while setting up storage in Oreo.please fix it
Excellent terminal emulator with package manager (apt-get like) built in.
great, please add Ctrl key or Ctrl button on default menu keyboard
Brilliant app, file managment is so much easier with bash utilities and scriptse
