The courses themselves are very good, but the app is very basic and missing some very important features: 1. It only works in the foreground. I often like to list to courses while driving, and so would have other apps (such as GPS) in front. 2. It's very difficult to navigate the video with onscreen controls on a phone, if you want to go back to a specific point or just repeat the last couple of minutes. 3. It doesn't react to bluetooth controls 4. You cannot cache the videos offline so, for example, you cannot use it on a plane.
The World's Greatest Professors -- Seriously! This app gives you lifelong learning at its finest. It isn't cheap, but its a bargain when you consider all the time we waste watching inferior stuff. You get incomparable depth and quality, from highly stimulating and entertaining lecturers, with great visuals like Professor Ressler's engineering models or Professor Kung's unusual instruments, or all that Chef Briwa brings from the Culinary Institute of America. I am looking forward to promised new features such as downloads within the app.
So great we cancelled our Netflix subscription We absolutely LOVE our Great Courses Plus subscription. Best $20 we spend each month. Only improvement would be to add audio-only streaming, and allow the user to download (temporary, if that's a thing) files to listen to when reception isn't great.
Love it but... I love the use of this but I have never had to take the battery out of my phone in order to restart my Galaxy Note 4 as much as I've had in the past 3 days. This app tends to freeze up while playing video while the audio continues to run. When it freezes the only way I can gain control of my device again is by doing a hard reboot through battery removal. That kind of sucks.
Awesome concept! University courses from award winning professors right on your computer, mobile device or TV at a cost almost anyone can afford. I have taken numerous courses from this company over the years and can't praise them highly enough. Support is nothing less than stellar as well. Worth every penny!
Love the courses, but the tech is buggy. The courses themselves are worth the monthly fee. The speakers are knowledgeable and the wide variety of subjects are interesting. However, it currently only works reliably on computer, phone or tablet. It hangs every time when using Chromecast. It hangs 7 out of 10 tries when using Amazon's fire stick. Support was unable to offer a work around, but assured me a fix would be in place "soon".
