Used to be a great app I like the Globe and Mail as a news source, but so much of the content is now locked within the app unless you're a subscriber. It didn't used to be like this. Some of the articles that are locked are free to read on the desktop webpage which is still accessible from your phone. I just deleted the app after clicking on one too many articles only to find out it was locked. At least put a symbol by each article that is locked so that people don't waste their time.

Paywall ruined this This was my top app for keeping up with news in Canada. As a US citizen this was very useful for me, and I especially loved the great opinion pieces and insight into issues facing my neighbors to the north. Now all that is behind a paywall, which means I have one less trusted, reliable news source. Going to uninstall now as this app is essentially useless for me. The NY Times at least gives you 10 free articles a month. I'm sorry Globe & Mail. You were good, but now you're unapproachable.

Rip off! Used to love it but $25 a month? For an app? I live overseas so I can't get the print edition and wouldn't want it anyway. I checked out their fees because I would have been willing to pay a reasonable amount. Sorry I'm not rich enough for the globe's tastes.

Was great. Now a scam I loved this app. It was my daily read for 4 years. But now all the posted articles require a subscription. This is NO LONGER A FREE APP, but a scam to suck money out of you. So much for journalistic pride... the Globe and Mail is just a money grab. Uninstalling.

BLOCKED ... For me this app worked reasonably well on my Note 4 and I enjoyed using it. I have no problem with a company charging for a service that they have paid for in the first place to make available to the public. However this app is now practically useless with the increasing blocking. For the time being others will be my go to news apps until they go the same route. I actually would not mind paying as long as complete FB sharing remains available. Oh well.

Overpriced A hardcopy is worth 24$ a month. An online version with an overpriced fee isn't going to net you readers. Most folks would pay about 5 or 10$ a month. 24$ is absolutely out of the question. Who is your intended demographic with a 24$ a month price tag for online content? Especially when there are free apps to contend with? Marketing clearly hasn't done thier research.....

Bye bye Globe and Mail I was irritated when I constantly ran into the paywall when trying to read an article online, so I moved to the app. If supporting the app, and any ads they'd put in there, was the price of access, then I'd go along. But now 90-95% of the articles in the app are behind a paywall too. Uninstalled!

Greed Hey Globe and Mail! Loved the app before when at least some articles were readable. I understand the need for your company to make money but the pay walls are not the answer. The result of your greed is apparent by all the 1 star reviews you've been getting today, and will get tomorrow, and days and weeks after. Don't be arrogant. Your articles, while well written, are not the only source we can go to for well written articles. Keep it up. Hey, have you guys heard of a company called Post Media? Byeeeeeeee

Useless Once great, now pointless. Now used only to check headlines. If I see something interesting I log into Globe's webpage. Globe 2 Go tripled in price and became far too expensive and now this useless app. Not sure who is making their business decisions but they must be losing a lot of readers. Lots of other free places to get the news. Deleting this app.

Everything is blocked, but only in this app Four some reason I can see all of the content on their website without logging in, but this app says I need to subscribe to even see an article about coffee. Is no-one at the globe reviewing these comments!? The feedback is pretty consistent...

An excellent app, best used by subscribers. And if you read G & M frequently, you should subscribe. The app is excellent. Pre-download articles to read offline without prompting. Good lay out of the app. Loads fast. Many are complaining that you need a subscription and I agree that you do in order to use this app effectively. However, G & M is one of only a few papers left in Canada that is actually doing - some - real journalism. If you want that to continue, then you should support them by subscribing. It's not cheap, but an independent media has a cost and I for one am willing to pay for it.

Although not necessary, it would be nice if I could check the status of my investments from within this app. Thankfully the latest version has corrected several issues I was having with certain articles not loading.

Paywall destroyed a good app I used to read news and opinion on this app every day. Now, I get a "subscribers only" message every time I tap on an article. The app does not even bother to explain what you can or cannot read for free. The result is that it gets you interested in the headline and then it disappoints you with the paywall; over and over again. I'm uninstalling now.

Need to subscribe to access articles What a waste of time. 90% of the articles can't be read without subscribing. You'll receive notifications about breaking news only to find that you can't read the article without paying. What a waste of time... Download Flipboard. Far better resource for global news.

Added unlimited now worse than before I cancelled my unlimited and then the update came out. Now it needs a way to block or indicate unlimited articles as half of what i click is now blocked. Bottom line - don't get if you are not unlimited subscriber. You'll just end up frustrated as most articles you click take you to a "sorry try again" page. Globeandmail although I like to read it is just not working out for me anymore. Farewell....

Update broken? Let's hope Since the latest update every article (9 of 9) in Top Stories has required a subscription no matter what the article. The same goes for the World News section. I haven't even bothered to try others. Hopefully this is just a glitch, there's no point in installing this app if it is now simply a wrapper to tempt you to subscribe. Paying for news is important, but you can't seriously put every article behind a paywall, there are too many other free options

Too much locked down Used to be a decent news app. But they have essentially locked everything behind the pay wall now. Far more than most other legit journalism outlets... meaning I can still get my major news free of charge elsewhere. The globes editorials just aren't worth the price.

Missing content, display issues, and upside down! Update: I'm not sure if the issues below have been addressed, since the entire app is now upside down! This app is comically bad. Many articles have a headline only, with no content. Articles with content are weirdly formatted, with a half line of text across the top of the screen. It's so frustrating to click on a headline, only to see an article with no text. This happens ALL the time.

Flushed app Used to be great for catching up on news while on the go. Ridiculous prices and pay for everything model now. Completely useless if you aren't paying. You just killed your app... Thanks but no thanks. Bye. Oh and the only positive reviews since these updates are G&M paid staff...good try but the flood of 1* will remove this greed stain.

Gets worse by the day I'm a Globe unlimited subscriber and this app gets worse by the day. Doesn't work with my login to see subscriber content. Doesn't let me see articles that I can see on the website. Clearly the Globe could care less about those of us on the Android platform.

Used to be good Before it was frustrating with having a few articles unreadable but it was manageable. Now it's about 75% are unreadable without a $20/month membership. I'd pay $5/month and I'm sure a million others would too but for $20/month you're killing your user base. Done with G&M.

Ridiculous I've been using this app for years as my go to news app. Ever since the latest update I can't view any articles without having to become a paid subscriber. Your app has been free for years and I have been enjoying it for years but now I will have to look elsewhere for my morning news. Too bad you had to go this route. Would of been nice to stay loyal to your long term readers by keeping the app free for them.

It just shows web pages! The article view shows the block that invites me to app store to download the app. It's a standard thing when viewing websites on mobile devices, except that I am already viewing it in the app! If you are showing me web pages in a web view, then what's the point of having the app??

I subscribe but content not available I pay for a subscription but primarily read on my phone. App continually says 'Error. There was a problem getting content from the server' or I need to login. I would tolerate this if it was the odd article but seems to be all the subscriber content I want to access. Free articles are available, so what an I paying for? Journalism itself is great.

Uninstalling 10 free articles per month? How about zero free articles per month? I can see you charging $9.99/month. But you still need to offer your 10 articles per month. You're pissing off potential subscribers. Bell is just as big thieves as Rogers. Why take up space if I can't read any articles. By by Globe!

Was Excellent until pay wall.... This used to be my favourite source for news while on the go. Unfortunately with this new update, it has crippled the app by hiding behind a pay wall and wanting me to pay a steep fee. I would honestly pay 5-10 a month for this service, not the $23 they are requesting. The news alerts are also unwelcome. Please fix this app!

Terrible app I'm a paid subscriber. But with this app (completely up to date) I can't share or mark favourites or anything (I'm logged in and options are greyed out). And it changed with a recent upgrade. So the only way to get the benefits of my paid subscription is to use a browser which is not ideal on a phone. So a global and mail subscription is not really convenient. I dont know how you expect to attract or retain paid subscribers when you can't even have a decent app for them. I'll be cancelling.

Not to mention the recklessness of suddenly gating all articles. I'll be interested to see how quickly the number of users has plummeted.

Thanks to the update that didn't indicate that a monthly subscription was now required, I'll be ditching it and getting something else. Look, I get that you did it with your site, but this is a far lighter version. It's so light, that some of the articles listed could only be accessed via their website, even though they put a link for it in their app. Brutal change Globe and Mail.
