Slow, buggy and cheap. Is there really such a shortage of competent app developers out there that lemons such as this continue to be released? Have some standards people, please!! Specifically, I find that only 50% of articles load when you click on them, the rest just give you a spinning timer. Ads always seem to load fine though - which is just wonderful. When it works, it's fine. Not great but fine. Though using the app is very slow and browsing the mobile site much more efficient.
Slow and drains battery More articles than you would expect don't load at all and when they do it's very slow. If left open in the background will use 80%+ of battery - not usable other than an odd occasion!
Ouch, not up to El Reg's standard Don't mind the time it takes to open, do mind that comments seldom open, and potentially wastes data. Complains about no connection even with wireless and mobile data connected. Come on Dev, you can fix this. Or open source the project and let someone else? Despite my complaints it is my most-used app. For future versions can we get votes, copy and paste with the editor, and the age of messages? Thanks.
Worst app of the 80 on my phone Freezes or force closes constantly on my month old HTC m8. Can't believe such a good tech site made such a bollocks app. Totally naff. U guys suck at apps.. Just make a mobile version of the webpage and make a basic browser wrapper app for that.
No images? How can an IT site have such a crap app? How hard could it be to insert the associated images onto the page? Some stories, like LOHAN require them, maybe give us the option to load or not, for those with bandwidth restrictions? Back to my bookmark....
Flashing ad banner very distracting Good app, but there is currently a really intrusive advert that sits flashing away at the bottom of the screen. This is distracting enough to necessitate ditching the app until the ad bar stops flashing. Adverts are fine, just don't make them so distracting! Please also add article searching so I can view something other than just headlines.
At last, the long awaited update to The Register's Android app. We’ve done some significant testing on this, but please keep telling us if you find any bugs and we’ll keep fixing them, that’s a promise.
- A completely redesigned and rebuilt app that, we believe, works well!
- Comments - reading and posting.
- Offline capabilities - just play with your syncing options in settings.
- Settings button ...works!
- You won't see 'App requires a restart'.
- No more errors reading comments.
Makes it very easy to read and convert Federal Register Articles into ePubs!
