The best bus tracking app The app is not perfect but then again nothing in life is. How reliable this app is, is based on people's expectations. Bus locations are usually updated every 1-3 minutes, sometimes more. Remember it takes time for the bus GPS to report the bus location back to your local bus operator. Then it takes time for them to report locations back to the transit app. The app is only accurate if your local bus operator relay the correct info. Transit have great customer service, they reply to every emails quickly.
Saves so much time Knowing when to leave the house was my primary goal when downloading the app, but since then I've learned that the real value is in answering the question: "Should I run for it?" Knowing that you need to bolt for the bus when you get off the train can save you 20 minutes. Just this week I've probably saved 45 minutes because I had the information I needed to make the right choices at the right time.
Handiest bus app Rather than have to initially select you can see all buses around you or a particular stop. Even those 10 minutes or so walk away. Great to have more quick options to choose from. Favorites can also be saved so they show up first in the list. Overall the most useful transit app I've found. Many other great features such as following the route of a bus and selecting a stop on the way to look for connections. Also fairly new notifications system to alert to a bus you wanted to catch or connection you wanted
Needs User Interface update Option to remove Uber/Bixi/Car2go and whatever I don't need = Excellent, keep that ! ___ The transit routes and times are always up to date = Excellent, I really appreciate, thanks. ___ Don't give a list of possible routes based on my location. My phone GPS is always OFF. ___ Maybe I would like to plan for later, when I might be somewhere else! So, let us input a start location, a destination and time. Then give us a choice of Bus, Train, Car, Bicycle, Walking, and THEN list the possible routes and times...
Good app I have been using this for quite a while and it is very handy. I have one problem with it though. Transfers. Far too often my second bus is scheduled to be at the stop one minute after my first bus is supposed to arrive. The real world doesn't follow schedules this closely. I have missed some transfers because my first bus is delayed by a mere minute or two. Obviously busses aren't your issue, but these 1 minute windows need to stop! I would like to see better options for calculating transfers.
Best Transit App--not perfect yet I love the bike share and car share features. It's a bit hard to click on some of the tiny logos for those though. I hope they add ReachNow compatibility. The widget is awesome but I wish it only refreshed when I clicked on it because it suck drains battery otherwise. Without the widget it's mostly only helpful when I don't know where I'm going. Also, would be great to incorporate bike or driving directions into the app but that's unnecessary.
