My Pixel 2 XL cannot connect via wifi. Extremely frustrating. I had to use a OnePlus One I had lying around the house to set up my camera. I sure hope I get an update to this app that allows me to connect to my $500 dash cam with my $850 smart phone...
I love the thinkware F800 camera but the Android software and Mac OS software are terrible. One of the main reasons for purchasing the camera was the interaction between the phone and the camera I have to say I'm really disappointed in the Android app. I'm unable to do any updates via the Android app and the wifi camera also I can't view any of the videos or live view the camera on Android app.
For live view not working. If you disable mobile data it might work. It worked for me. Your phone might connect to mobile data and use it and ignore thinkware Wi-Fi even if it's connected.
Recently this app became ridiculously unstable. New firmware update 1.02.02 is impossible to install because app crashes immediately after connection with internet + camera. Additionally when I cut internet access from phone (to prevent crash of app) and try to install firmware it fails both in hotspot and wifi mode. Bad.
I've had my F800 PRO for a few days now and the Cloud features need a lot of work. The only features currently available are GPS location, Geo fencing, and driving impact notification. There is no remote live view, two way communication, auto backup, parked impact notification (although support keeps telling me it does but I don't see it in the settings), or remote video playback. It's not the same as their competitor, Blackvue. I knew this before the purchase but it would be nice to get some confirmation whether or not these features will be implemented. I was under the impression that these would be available. However, the app layout is nice, easy to navigate through and select options. It does take quite some time to connect to the dashcam using WiFi or the hotspot. I'm likely going to return this and buy the Blackvue DR750s instead if I don't hear from Thinkware support in future cloud development. Also note that live view while connected to the dash cam does not work with all cellular carriers. You need to put your phone in airplane mode, then turn on WiFi to connect. This is also a problem because my hotspot will not work, thus making the Cloud features not work.
App not cooperating very well with Google Pixel 2 XL and Asus Zenfone 3, both are Android...6 Mrshmellow and 8 Oreo. My camera install people used iPhone 7 and had no issues. Obviously the app was iPhone orientated and the porting to Android was a very poor result.
- Added the feature of getting rid of account
- Changed step for agree terms of using cloud service
- Corrected some minor issues
