I like the multiple features, ease of use and the voice guidance. I used Chromecast to display on my TV. The red-filter use of the camera on my Samsung S4 camera took the guesswork out of the color and tint. The only thing that wasn't clear to me is why all of the adjustments were made against the "movie" presets. Is that what THX thinks is best for all viewing?
I am not a fan right now I 1 work for Vizio (I do tech support for all Vizio products except for or pcs) and 2 own my own home theater install business. My business partner has a HTC phone we have used this app on with wonderful success...I went to optimize my Vizio TV with my s5...when I get to the color step...the app crashes....wont launch the camera app ...this is either an issue with my phone (extremely doubtful ) or the app (extremely likely )...I will rate better when you fix this. I have restarted my phone no change
Just bought a 4k Android TV and used this app to fine tune the picture settings on my TV. Today's TVs have more settings and control over the picture than ever before, it can be quite daunting. Also, there are so many websites with so many different takes on what "best" picture looks like. This app was easy to use and allowed me to set the picture to my liking. It does not have chromecast support; however, it does work well via miracast if your TV (and phone/tablet) has that functionality. I configured my TV using the THX app on my tablet and connecting to my TV via miracast...worked great!!! Now I just need to try this with my AVR.
Has potential to be very good but, despite following instructions given by THX on a similar review, it crashes every single time the camera is selected for the colour tests. I've restarted the phone, killed all other apps; you name it, I've done it. Doesn't work on Note 3 and I'm a bit fed up I went to the trouble and expense of buying an MHL cable just for this app. Would be great if fixed.
Helpful app but room for improvement The app really helped me get the color set on my TV, but I had to purchase an HDMI cable for my Samsung G4. It was simple to use and made a big difference. The shop is way too big for a phone app but thankfully it can be partially moved to the SD card. Integrating this app with Chromecast or some other wireless method would be incredible. I want able to get my phone far enough from the TV for the color filter portion of the tuning. It's a great start and was very stable on my S4.
Works great with one exception Just calibrated my system today and found my color and tint were off. The only issue I had was it appeared my surround speakers were reversed. The on-screen controls played out the left speaker when right was pressed and vice versa. I confirmed via test tones in the receiver that they indeed are wired correctly.
