Review from McKinley Tabor
UI Needs Work This app does exactly what it says, it allows a customer of DNS Made Easy to remotely access and manage DNS records with their service. As an IT manager, I can see this being useful in some situations. However, I'm giving this app a single star rating because the UI is abysmal. Neither the username nor password is saved between uses, which is laziness that could be passed of as a security feature. The scrolling and collapsing menus is clunky, and while it is awkward, I off-the-cuff can't envision a better way of doing this, so it can be forgiven. What is NOT forgivable is the persistent Logo in the notification bar. ...... EDIT: 9-11-13 - the app developers came to their senses and removed the ridiculous ever present logo in the notification bar, and there seems to be some genuine improvements in the UI. (I can't tell if there's additional functionality, or the existing functionality is just easier to find) I am very impressed with the update and adjusting my star rating accordingly.
August 28, 2013Hi McKinley, We carried out a pilot with our users and many thought that security was the utmost concern. They did not want the user name and passwords to be stored. They explained that the risk of their child or anyone else picking up their phone and modifying crucial DNS information would be calamitous. The notification bar enables quick access.
I got a message saying I couldn't update templates on mobile, was disappointed as that's my main use case. Then I found the option under left menu to update templates. Seems to work?
Not save the login information so missed lot
Faster than the Web control panel Sometimes the Web control panel performance has been dire even on a decent connection in the UK on my laptop. This app on GPRS on my phone in Thailand was very responsive. Look forward to using it a lot more.
Ok Awkward to manage failover addreses (to be fair it's not much easier in the web interface). Far too many prominent delete buttons for my liking - would much rather see the 'delete domain' button buried deep in a menu rather than on the main screen!
Does what you would expect 5 star feature would be to let you do things you prob are trying to do via mobile. Like swap c records using presets.
Easy to use. Convenient too.
