Braille Translator turns text into braille and decodes braille cells back into readable text, for learners, teachers and anyone preparing braille. It writes the braille of 14 languages:
• English (UEB), Spanish, German, French, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, Russian, Ukrainian and Arabic
• Chinese (mainland and Taiwanese braille), Japanese and Korean
• Type or paste up to 300 characters and see the braille instantly
• English: choose Grade 1 (letter by letter) or Grade 2 (common contractions); Chinese: with or without tones; Korean: abbreviated or full spelling
• Paste braille characters to decode them back into text
• Read braille from a photo or PDF: take a picture or pick a file, preview the dots found, and fix the text if needed
• Every cell is shown as a six-dot grid with raised and empty dots
• A reference table for the selected braille: letters, digits, punctuation and signs
• Copy or share any conversion
Chinese characters are read as pinyin or zhuyin, and braille is read back the same way; Japanese needs kana, not kanji. Photo reading works best with a sharp, evenly lit picture taken straight on, and cells it cannot read are marked so you can check them. Every braille code is a documented subset without short-hand contractions (English Grade 2 covers common wordsigns and groupsigns) and may differ from a certified transcription.
