I'm not one to place reviews unless they are warranted. For years I've been looking for ways to mange my productivity and have now found it. This app not only helps me manage my work tasks, but also my families tasks at home. We share projects, organize tasks, and even assign chores for the kids. We have shopping lists, temples for seasonal projects, and personal lists for our own productivity. I could go on and on how this has helped, but you need to try for yourself to see.
New design ruins usability Until recently, Todoist was hands-down the best app I'd ever found for android, and the only app for which I've ever been willing to pay annual fees to use the premium version. The new design is all about style over substance and makes it more difficult to manage tasks, so I'm looking for an alternative.
Plenty of filtering and sorting options, but not many color categories to choose from and not very new-user friendly. Personally, I prefer Any.do's group-style layout and notification system. Todoist just feels like "Gmail lite" ...like I'm sending myself an email, labeling it, and dropping it into a folder with a reminder. Also, the PC version seems buggy and doesn't want to save dates at times.
At first I was skeptical about many features and most praises. But from the time I started using it, specially since I started subscribing to the premium account, I fell in love. And more and more I get impressed. To new and even old users, i suggest Carl Pullein's video series called "working with todoist". He shows the power of todoist that it hides behind the curtains of simplicity, while it actually has features that other apps can only dream of. It has an awesome support, great development, insane stability, magnificent tutorials and unbelievable user experience.
Todoist has a lot of features and is great for advanced users, but still easy enough to use for those just getting started with to do lists. Its main flaw is the lack of UI for repeating tasks. It is not obvious how to set a task to repeat and requires you learn the language the application is expecting. Even then, it is not clear if the app has understood your entry correctly and this can lead to errors or missed tasks. Overall I think Todoist is the best to do list service for all and well worth paying for premium if you are an advanced user.
I've been using Todoist since early 2013. The Android app was the main reason I switched from an iPhone 3yrs ago - the quick add and snoozing work really well on Android. I have since tried a dozen other apps but have always returned back to Todoist. It just keeps getting better and better.
