Huge download for no reason!!! Navigon and other navigation software lets you download specific maps (download only the states that you will be visiting, for example, to save space). TomTom is forcing me to download the entirety of thr USA and Canada before it will even open. Ouch! That is BAD for low-storage devices.
Get a tomtom device and don't waste your money I loved my tomtom device I had years ago until it just stopped working, but that's a different story. Since then, I've been just using Google maps to navigate, but I missed the rich features of tomtom, but this is a poor substitute that has poor connection to gps with serious lag time and got me lost three times in the first two weeks. I finally got tired of apologizing to clients for being late and went back to Google maps. I wish I could've gotten a refund. Wish it had worked better.
Unsupported app This app is basically unsupported. They are unable to catch up with the progress in the phone screen resolution. It seems to work with the old 1080x920 pixel screen resolution phones, but not with modern phones with 1440x2560. Waste of money, do not buy it unless it costs less than $5!
Does not work nexus 6 total black screen I paid for this app lifetime support and map updates and what they do is bring subscription model and abandon this app for newer app I want my money back tomtom
Poor support and clunky/buggy. I have been using this app since June 2014, and prior to that a physical GPS unit by TomTom. I have found that it makes the phone quite hot, and crashes/freezes somewhat frequently. It has proven unreliable on my Samsung S4 as well as my Z3 compact - the GPS doesn't seem to pick up the location properly on stock firmware on a regular basis. To top it all off they offer very poor support - if you have questions they force you to register to their ticketing system. Their staff are not very knowledgeable, and are very lazy asking questions which you've already provided them with the answer to. They also recently changed their product to a subscription arrangement, and those who stupidly purchased their overpriced app like I did are stuck with an unsupported and non-updating app. Not impressed - I will stick with a data plan and the FREE and SUPERIOR Google Maps.
Does not support many newer devices Lowered from 3 to 1 star because while there is a promise of lifetime free updates, and says it supports Android 2.5+, it does not support the Google Nexus 6, which I just upgraded to. By Google Play standards this is a very expensive app and promising lifetime free updates yet not supporting new devices is dishonest. ---ABRIDGED ORIGINAL REVIEW--- Interface too cumbersome and confusing. The Android options menu button should bring up menus for the app to let me get to what I want, instead it does nothing. Finding my way around the app has been a frustrating game of trial and error. It takes too many selections and decisions to get from an address in my contact book to navigating to said address. Tom Tom makes you select the state of the address, then the city, then the street and then street number. I'd be inclined to ask for a refund and give it one star, however, I love its routing options -- like being able to block certain parts of a route and being able to choosing between fastest and most fuel efficient route. Other pluses are that maps are stored on the phone and being able to set way points along a route.
