***Building up a 24/7 accessible world, one update at a time.***
Ava is the fastest and easiest way to understand and participate in conversations for deaf & hard-of-hearing people.
Didn’t get what the guy in front of you said? Ava uses your microphone to hear and shows you word by word what is said. Instant captions, in your pocket, always available.
Tell something super quickly: show in big letters what you meant, or ask Ava to voice it for you. The easiest 2-way communication with hearing people who don’t know sign language.
Don’t miss out in group conversations anymore. Share your unique "&AvaID" link with others so they can join your conversation on their Ava app. At lunch, in meetings or hanging out with friends, Ava shows you who says what, in real time, and in colors.
Connect quickly one or multiple friends, next to you or anywhere in the world. It takes one tap to connect you all.
Join the other Ava Pioneers exploring every day new ways to use Ava to make the world more accessible. Ava 1.0 is just the first step towards a 24/7 accessible world. Visit www.ava.me/life for more details on how other Pioneers use Ava.
Experience the first artificial intelligence designed to empower deaf & hard-of-hearing people. Anyone can tap on words that Ava got wrong to teach her. Ava gets smarter at understanding you & your peers’ voice.
Benefit from the different optimizations we’ve done: Ava will not use more battery than streaming audio when listening to transcribe, or using other reading app when you follow the conversation.

My friend asked me and our friends to install this app so she could get more out of our conversations, especially in restaurants. It's amazing how much of a difference it makes. I love it when I see her get jokes that would've just sailed right by her. This app, like all things could be better. I'm looking forward to continuing improvements in the speech recognition. Bravo for making this app and people's lives richer.

after calibrating my voice and giving several sample messages to teach ava my voice, I tested it by having my husband talk into the mic; unless he spoke about 7 words or more there was a 50% accuracy with ava knowing it wasn't me talking. I can imagine in group chats with too close proximity could result in ava putting a voice recording with a wrong name. not sure if this could be improved without plugging in a personal mic device to minimize picking up on ambient vocalizations. I am quite impressed with the auto corrections though.

I tried to follow up with my friends conversation and it's all jumble of random words. This isn't accessible for a Deaf person.

Team Ava My brother and I test this out where there are more or less of 50 people. When there were appox 10 of us in a circle and ava keep getting mixed because of everyone talking at once or overlap of communicate around that can't do right to seperate speakimg of many people and more to lists. Was told that there was a messae to me on this ava and I said I never saw or got text from someone while I was away far and not using ava. This needs alot of improvement for communicate upgrade.
App is ok, better for 1v1 convos, responds like typical voice to text software, as mentioned before, it's not concise but you can generally get the gist of the convo. Tried to use during an appt to see what other person was saying, there are concerns this could potentially record private conversations not meant for general public ie: doctor appt, teacher conferences, etc.

Hi Adrianne, can you try again? If the problem persists, please email us at: hello@ava.me, we should be able to fix this. I push for turning on it's won't turn on also when so someone talk need speed up the words too slow I need find other best app.

Hi Elena,
If you haven't found another app, please give it a try again, in better networking conditions? Slow internet will probably make captions appear more than a second later. Fast internet (like Wifi, LTE) should be less than 1 second.
Thanks! Ava Accessibility March 26, 2017
Hey there, do you mind trying it now and see what it does?
thanks! Would be nicer if you could manually change rotation of the display so that the microphone on my tablet was actually pointing towards me instead of away

Hi Ajani,
Let us know what was your issue? We probably can help! Email us at hello@ava.me In addition to the problems noted below, this outfit does not reply to requests for help. Obviously they dont have much interest in improving any failing components. Completely fails to allow sign up. Completely fails to enable cookies. Since i have been unable to use it because of the bugs i dont have further comment on usability.

Hi David,
Do you mind emailing us (or replying here) related to your issues at sign up? We'd be happy to help! Or by email: hello@ava.me
Thank you! Best for one on one use Really not good to use in group settings, BUT not bad when talking one on one. Still mishaps with words, but you get the gist of the conversation, which is helpful over nothing. I also used the group chat option and had a nice chat with friends, 3 of us and thought that was nice even though the words got messed up at times, we had a good laugh. I will definitely keep using it!
A bit hit and miss. In my opinion, pointless since I could use Google to translate speech to text using one of the many Google apps (Google Keep for one) our almost any note-taking app using my keyboard's speech-to-text faulty, especially Gboard, Google's own keyboard. Google has a MUCH better translation record.

Hi Gary,
Thanks for your feedback. Ava is not just the speech to text feature.
You can connect group conversations, and Ava identifies your voice uniquely to be able to separate what a group says. Furthermore, instant typing and some features unique to deaf/hard of hearing people may be interesting for you, if you give it a real shot in a group :) Works well enough for one on one conversations so far. The monthly subscription price is way too much.
Great App, Room to Grow Great idea and well made app for this early of a version. I'm giving it 5 starts to offset users who I don't feel have it an honest chance based on their reviews. It's actually about 3 stars at the moment because of some issues getting it going at first, but after working with it longer and calibrating the microphone it's working well on my Pixel. Make sure you have a good internet connection and I think it will help immensely. Haven't tried the multi person conversations yet, but overall well done!
Is the app compatible with Android 7? The app works very good on my iPhone 4S/iOS 9.3.1 and Samsung Galaxy S5/Android 6.0.1 but not good on my Nexus 6/Android 7.. catches a very few words. I will give it 5 stars if you fix it. Thanks
What a disappointment! I was in a group of about 10 people. Two of my friends agreed to try it out with me. Everytime anyone said something, I got it 3 times! I turned the microphone off on my phone (Google pixel xl) and then it only appears twice. So often what we saw was incorrect and several times started out right but then changed it to something completely different, wrong, and made no sense! I would have been better off using my energy trying to hear and understand than reading the screen!
:-/ At first it was cool but I see few mistake. NOW it crashed ever time, I open after I let it update. I will give it 5 stars of you fix it. Please

Hi Rose,
We're super sorry this happened on your device with the new update. We're happy to look into this and get it fixed. Would you mind sending us an email at hello@ava.me with the Ava ID you had created and information on what kind of smartphone you're using? Thanks! It mistakes word when someone try said sometinng word ain't right Need to fix everything update new software techongly
Great idea but.... Can't even recognize my neighbor, who has one of the clearest voices I've ever heard. Connection keeps dropping and I'm 300 feet from a cell tower on LTE speeds. Google does a better job of speech recognition.
Good, still rough. Ava understood me clearly but had a very hard time with my elderly parents. I pointed out to my father that Ava has the same difficulty understanding him as my mother then maybe it can train him to enunciate. Cost could certainly be an issue but as a supplement to phone conversations I think 5 free hours a month might be enough for seniors. Otherwise I wonder if there's some ADA funding source that could bring the cost down? Anyway, end result is that my father was thrilled even if it was glitchy with his
Need a Ton of work Just doesn't connect. Crashes on attempt to connect repeatedly. Basically every single time. What you can do with this is, the deaf or HOH person download it and put it on a table between you and one other person and read what they say. I speak very fast and this was actually pretty good. But trying to connect with another person with the same app or a group is impossible. Plus there's no indication that it is attempting to connect, nothing, no spinning wheel or message "wait a moment" or a pop-up message.
AVA access for the deaf community I just found out that unlimited access of AVA cost deaf people to use $29.00 a month. That's unfair. We, deaf community, prefer FREE access at no cost at ALL!!
&AVA voice to text -- Needs work, but useful now and going in a good direction.
Like the idea, needs work, too expensive The idea is brilliant! If the product was anywhere close to the ad, then it could help a lot of people. The voice recognition doesn't work well. Too many errors and problems (comparing it to the other recognition systems). The conversation of 1 person appears in multiple users. It could be prevented by a voice quality and volume comparison between the users who are using the app. The app can't get connected, it keeps disconnecting-reconnecting. The price is just ridiculous $29 per month? No way!
Are you out of your ever loving minds! Hey, it works alright, but you're going to charge $28.99 for this?! I'll stay out of conversations! You guys are ripping off the deaf and hard of hearing!
So many misinterpreted but great idea Fix those then you will have an awesome app that surely helps alot of deaf people! Please fix those misinterpretation
Best idea for hard of hearing on a smart phone Trying to use for elderly members of our parish who are at home.
