I personally use this to record rides to join the challenges, rather using it as my main GPS map like Trailforks. Pretty bare bones/simple and easy to use though. When you're ready to save a ride, make sure it actually uploads and shows up before leaving the area. I encountered a connection error over mobile and it didn't save/upload one of my recent rides. Getting back home to wifi didn't help even though the app prompted me saying the ride uploaded.

I started to record a ride and put my phone in my bike bag. After the ride, my phone said it closed all open apps because of overheating, and the ride wasn't recorded. Also, it needs your location information location all the time, not just when using the app. Why if I have to manually record a ride? The app links with Strava, which I easily start from my bike computer, so why can't it sync my rides from Strava? Instead, it's another app that's constantly monitoring you and your location.

The latest version (2.6.5) of Ride Club does not request or require always-allow location permissions. You can also set up integrations with Garmin and Wahoo cycling computers to import rides into Ride Club automatically during the onboarding process or on the settings screen. Have a nice ride!

I find the challenges fun to complete and was surprised by actual awards. When I first started with the app, I found there were two integration options. The connection to Strava is one way. Only rides started in the app will go to Strava. However, the Wahoo integration is two-way. Only rides recorded in Wahoo will sync (no using Wahoo as a proxy). Now I see Garmin Connect as an option. I'm very happy there is continued development and I look forward to the future as a new regular user.
