Not only could I not get wifi access, but but each attempt (over several days) was a different experience of frustration and failure. The app tells you you need to connected to wifi, and when you try to connect to wifi, it says you need to be registered on the app. When you go to register, you are often only given the option to login, with no link to register. You never know what will pop up. And that's not even getting to the credit card...

The process of registering and accessing the freccia rossa "free" wifi is so obnoxiously slow and super complicated that you may want to give up. And that would indeed be a good idea, as you're asked to share your credit card details if you are using a non Italian subscription, though you're not supposed to pay anything. Well you don't, but what happened to me is that the day after I found that MY CREDIT CARD HAD BEEN CLONED??!! and had been blocked by my bank. Stay away from this rubbish!

Appalling, just appalling. As others have said, insists you create an account, and when you try to do so it says you've entered the wrong information. And without it, apparently, you can't access the onboard wifi. So, no wifi for 3+ hours at 6:00am from Florence to Naples with nothing to see out of the windows because it's still dark. It's a useless, evidently pointless app and a waste of time and effort. Save yourself frustration and don't bother downloading it.
