Welcome to Troops Need You (TNY), the only national non-profit enabling troops to request critical assistance – whether combatting terrorism overseas or healing at home – and everyday Americans to donate to their specific needs.
Mission: Deliver mission-critical equipment to deployed combat troops and counter-terrorism units, along with personalized support to healing families on the home front.
Motto: “Listen, then Deliver!”
Need: When supply lines are stretched thin, troops in remote areas are often in need of mission-critical supplies. Additionally, when equipment breaks harsh environments, replacements can be slow. On the homefront, families of healing warriors are often faced with financial challenges as they cope with injury and recuperation.
Performance: For almost a decade, TNY has delivered to deployed troops over 10 tons of requested items including optics, night vision binoculars, infrared hunting cameras, medical and school supplies and kit items such as grenade pouches and weapon holsters. On the homefront, we’ve provided emergency financial assistance to healing veterans and their families, from groceries and clothing, to car and mortgage payments.
Background: Founded and run as a volunteer by Lt. Col Eric Egland, a veteran of Afghanistan and Iraq, TNY was established in 2007 and is an annually-audited IRS 501(c)3 tax-deductible non-profit organization.
History: Over 100,000 Americans have helped TNY continue the uniquely American wartime tradition of mobilizing citizens in direct support of troops in combat, from merchants supplying General Washington's army during the Revolutionary War, to the war bond drives of World War II. Now, it is our time to mobilize and help our troops accomplish their mission.
Intellectual foundation: Egland authored: “The Troops Need You, America” in 2007
Spiritual foundation: TNY applies the Christian gospel to “Love thy neighbor” (Matthew 12:31)
